March 22, 201412 yr Fully agree with you. Only suggesting what I did to experiment to see if either GPS (or both) influence his frame rates. More interested in what happens with the 530 as it is in the same panel position as the Avidyne is in the FSX version. Just a check to see. You never know until you check..... I tested the aircraft on a clear weather setting during the day and the frame rate counter showed no noticeable difference in frames with either the 400 or 530 on or off, but the experiment was totally worth it because I just greased a landing with the c90 for the first time ^_^ (The clear day improved frame rate so I could judge when to flare a lot better and my joystick didn't freak out either lol)
March 22, 201412 yr (The clear day improved frame rate so I could judge when to flare a lot better and my joystick didn't freak out either lol) Congrats on the approach and landing. Feels good doesn't it? You brought up another key issue. I would be interested in what the OP is using for cloud textures and general weather. Default or addon? Still, both he and you have indicated that the frame rates are more of an issue with the C90 than with other aircraft you both use. And in the context of his original post he OP implies he uses additional add on aircraft (vs default). March 22, 201412 yr Ya he did indicate that I think, I use freeware addons for airport, water, and sky textures but only have frame rate issues with the c90. And thanks, the fs2004 c90 floats without descending much then when airspeed bleeds off it suddenly rapidly descends, and if you are too high you land really hard. I know this is off topic but does your fsx version do the same thing, I know real kingairs love to float but Is the rapid decent once airspeed lowers a realistic trait in your opinion? I know that a lot other aircraft can do this but it seems a lot more pronounced with this aircraft.

March 22, 201412 yr I have the C90 as well. It is a bit heavy on frame rates, but the worst f/r hog of the Carenado planes for FS9 is the Caravan, which I utimately took off of my system. I'm just relaying this thought from another thread, but the speculation on this problem was that the cockpit switch sound files are the culprit.
March 22, 201412 yr At what indicated airspeed are you landing? The correct approach speed is 101 knots, 102 if your gross weight is over around 9500-10000 pounds and I hold the correct speed until I get closer to the runway threshold then I like to let it get a little lower at around 95-100 knots. I cut the power after crossing the threshold and usually fly a 3.00 degree glide slope but sometimes steeper if I have to. I have the C90 as well. How would click sounds cause frame rate issues? the Caravans gauges are simpler than the C337 and the 210 because they are not 3D and I get good frame rates in them compared to the c90, I don't have the caravan, but I would expect to get about the same frame rate as I get in the 185.
March 22, 201412 yr The correct approach speed is 101 knots, Was asking the original poster, Flugsimulatorpilot. April 15, 201412 yr Author Sorry that I didn't answer yet. I land with ca. 70-90 knots. When I touchdown with this aircraft I have even in the Default scenery 17-18 Fps for a short time, also when I Switch between the views. April 17, 201412 yr Hi, I have a Problem with this Aircraft. When i fly with this Aircraft in the default Scenery my Frames are good, but When I Flyer into a payware Scenery my Frames aren't good. With every other aircraft i fly, i have good Frames, in Payware scenerys, too. Can I get a better Performance When I change values in the aircraft.cfg? Hi. I've recently come to the end of exploring what Cap'n Sim's C-130 can do. The Carenado C90b I bought some months back is next on the list so this thread piqued my curiosity. I have several of their FS9 aircraft but only regularly use the Seneca. Last night I thought I'd experiment with the suggestions made so far so I took the plane out to mid-Atlantic, cleared all the weather and got down to collecting some data: I tried the standard plane as a benchmark. I switched the AP on and let things settle while I went for a beer from the fridge. 20 FPS I tried replacing the downloaded sound folder with a stock King Air alias. No change. I tried converting the textures to DXT3. No change. I tried switching the GPS400 and the GNS530 on and off and found the framerate dropped from about 20 down to 8-9 for a few seconds. This happened when I turned either one on or off. I thought I'd hit the jackpot BUT... The same effect occurred when I just hovered the mouse cursor over either gauge. Then I thought I noticed the effect repeated after a minute or so. I was well on the way to thinking of some initialisation problem when I noticed that the same drop in framerate occurred whenever I moved the mouse. It turns out, on my PC at least, that whenever the mouse pointer sits directly over the FS9 graphics (the actual picture) the FPS drops horribly. If I stop moving the mouse and let FS9 hide the pointer the FPS recovers to its original 20 or so. If I move the pointer over the window's title bar there's no problem. Similarly if I hover over another window placed in front of FS9 there's no effect. It only happens when the pointer is directly obscuring the graphics. * * * I tried the same thing on my other Carenado planes with the following results: C337 Skymaster no pointer visible - FPS locked at 24 pointer obscuring graphics - FPS 18 B58 Baron no pointer visible - FPS 22 -23 pointer obscuring graphics - FPS 14 F33 Bonanza no pointer visible - FPS locked at 24 pointer obscuring graphics - FPS 22 to 23 PA34 Seneca no pointer visible - FPS locked at 24 pointer obscuring graphics - FPS 22 C90b Kingair no pointer visible - FPS 20 - 22 pointer obscuring graphics - FPS 9 to 10 The handful of other aircraft, stock and addon, that I tried did not suffer the problem. * * * So, having done all this, I wonder if you are experiencing the same problem. It's easy to mistake one for another, especially if you are using the autopilot and only starting to fly actively when you reach the more interesting addon scenery. The only rather halfassed solution I could think of (it was getting late and that one beer was getting lonely) was to fly in windowed mode and to plan ahead when needing to use the mouse. It's not much of a solution to a big problem because I use the mouse for the majority of my switches and gauges. Harrumph. It's a great pity as I like very much everything else about the Kingair. I wonder if Carenado are aware of the effect. Best regards, Dave
