FSX Fatal Error on Exit

Featured Replies

Since my recent purchase and install of PMDG777, FSX hangs with "a fatal error has occurred ..." every time I exit from FSX.

Note if I fly other aircrafts other than the 777, FSX exits gracefully.  I have also uninstalled FSIUPC which has reports about causing FSX to crash on exit, but this did not resolve my problem.

Anyone encountered this problem or know the cause?

I'm running Win 7 64-bit with 6GB RAM.

Not sure the exact cause, but when I updated all of the Visual C++ redistributables the issue stopped for me. Give it a try. I bundled all the ones I have into an archive.

My FSX ragequits every time I exit it. Good thing it does that when I'm done with it for the day and not while I'm flying. But I don't think you need to worry about FSX crashing on exit; my FSX does that everytime all the time but it doesn't create any problems with the simulation itself.

On my system its the NGX and not the T7 that does this. Also on load but in my case its a flaplever or parkingbrake button that does it. Release These and all set here. Took some frustrating hours to nail the problem

I too get the fsx fatal error on exit. Have not been able to figure it out yet. Sometimes it does happen during flight, but it seems like only when pfpx is open. Not sure because its so rare. I flew for 10+ hours yesterday with 777 and pfpx and no fatal error except on exit. I also got this with lds 767.

I had this crash on exit as well.

Since I reinstalled (for this and other reasons) all is good again though.

I contacted PMDG about this problem and they asnwered they have seen ot as well on some PC's but have not been able to find the cause. :-(

As a work around they suggested to not first pres "ESC" and than exit out of FSX....

But instead just quit FSX straight from the active 777 flight.

This actually worked for me.

Another thing you could try is, after you are done flying the 777, switch to a default FSX aircraft. Then "ESC" out of the flight and then exit out of FSX.

I don't have PSPX installed, and still get this problem.

I have also tried switching to a default FSX aircraft before exiting, but still get the problem.  I have been monitoring FSX's virtual size when PDMG 777 is running and it doesn't decrease when exited to the main menu.

I shall try exiting FSX from a flight tonight.

Thanks for your replies ... just a bit of comfort to know it's not just me and PMDG is aware of this problem.

Was getting a TON myself then I deleted the ENB Series Mod and not a single CTD on exit anymore!

Seems like the ENB mod just didn't like my PC...

I miss the eye candy greatly but am more satisfied with no more exit CTD's.

Yes, I was able to exit FSX from the flight without the fatal error ... thanks 777simmer.

Now, if PMDG can identify the cause for the fatal error when exiting from the main menu and include the fix in SP1, that will be great!

I tried this as well couple of nights ago, but still have the problem.

Thanks anyway.
