March 22, 201412 yr (Sorry for my poor English. I hope you undersand my sentences) I wrote before about 777 is stuttered just before wheel contacts ground. http://forum.avsim.net/topic/419325-fsx-freeze-just-before-nose-wheel-contacts-ground/?p=2782047 And I guess this is because many sound files are loaded and played at the moment. So I made half sized files which are played on the ground. eg. nose gear rattle, contact, rolling sound files. The Quality of half sized files is almost no differnce. I gonna test this now. And I will use the "Fraps" to measure average FRAME/sex. Good luck for me.
March 22, 201412 yr Commercial Member Interesting, my sim runs very smooth except an annoying millisecond pause on touchdown. I thought I just needed to run a defrag. Btw, check the typo at the end of your post, don't think your partner would appreciate you using fraps like that Rob Prest
March 22, 201412 yr Commercial Member @Kim Just found a previous post of yours on the same subject - Did you also shorten the touchdown sounds from 30 seconds? I actually replaced most of the touchdown sounds and replaced 1 of the engine sounds for a more realistic one. The pause still exists with the modified touchdown sound. May just remove the touchdown sounds completely since I don't need them with the buttkicker. Rob Prest
March 22, 201412 yr Author Ok.. I tested several times with a FS recored file using FS RECORDER. The frame is still stuttered. And the stutterd time is reduced to half? because the file size is half? Nope. not alt all It's same :( But when I delete whole sound folder of PMDG. It was very smooth. Zero stutter. Should I try test again with 1/3 size file? :(
March 22, 201412 yr Commercial Member Am flying so cant test. I assume when landing the cockpit rattle/Nose touchdown & main touchdown sounds are all being loaded. What happens if you (Backup) and remove those sounds? If you combine the size of those files it becomes quite large. I've got 64mb sound card laying around somewhere, may have to look for it and give it a try. Rob Prest
March 22, 201412 yr Author Ok. I gonna test again. this time I delete - PMDG_777_CockpitRattleX.wav - PMDG_777_NoseGearTDX.wav - PMDG_777_NoseGearRattle.wav - PMDG_777_NoseGearGroundroll.wav Other files are all original. First result - ZERO stutter . WOW I gonna test again for accuracy.
March 22, 201412 yr Author PMDG_777_CockpitRattle1.wav PMDG_777_CockpitRattle2.wav PMDG_777_CockpitRattle3.wav . . . . PMDG_777_CockpitRattle9.wav These files are each 5mb ~ 9mb. The file size is various. PMDG 777 chooses one from these files randomly to play sound at the touch-down moment. This explains why the stutter phenomenon is little bit differ at each landing, because the file size should be loaded is differ! And PMDG_777_NoseGearGroundroll.wav is 3.5mb PMDG_777_NoseGearRattle.wav is 1.4mb These three files are most bigger file to be loaded at touch down. I delete these three files, and tested 5 times ! The result is ZERO STUTTER. CONCLUTION: Let's make these file smaller using GOLD WAVE. (Sorry for my poor English. ) This is nose gear rattle file. We don't need the tail section. This silence part makes this file more big with no reason. :( So I will cut the tail part
March 22, 201412 yr Commercial Member Don't worry about your English, my posts are a lot worse most of the time! Can you please send me the reduced files when you are done? (only the touch down & Rattle files) I doubt PMDG will allow you to upload them anywhere. Edit - Just for your information, Nose gear rattle only plays if you have the nose wheel failure active. I wouldn't mess about with that one. Thanks Rob Prest
March 22, 201412 yr Pm'ed I would like copy of the reduced file size sounds... MSI Codex 5 10SC-262UK Desktop PC - Intel Core i7-10700, RTX 2060 Graphics, 16GB RAM, 2TB HDD, 256GB SSD.
March 22, 201412 yr Commercial Member Works for me, no more micro pause on landing. I also removed the smoke touch down fx file, not sure if that also helped. Rob Prest
