Can I still get into Flight?

Featured Replies

I had downloaded this a while ago and made an account; now, I have a new computer and the old installation is gone, and Games for Windows Live has apparently died, but I'm yearning to go find some Aerocaches. Is there no way?  Must it be so close yet so far from my grasp?

GFWL is gone. You can't get Flight anymore, but if you have an account, I THINK you can download it.

I downloaded it actually! But there's no way for me to get the Alaska DLC now.

If any of you decide to move on from Flight permanently, please message me! I'd be willing to give you some value for your Live account.

Oh, yes. The store is closed.

The Flight Toolkit allows downloading and installation of the official DLC (in addition to third party addons); however, that functionality is only intended for use by those who have already acquired the DLC through GFWL or Steam.

That is useful, thanks.

I'm confused by this... http://go.microsoft.com/?linkid=9800616 downloads MS Flight found here.

It appears you must have an XBOX Live or STEAM account in order to play online but it is otherwise free to use. I came here (AVSIM) looking to see if the community has embraced and developed for MS Flight (yet). Or what issues are present with it (e.g. is it more of a game than a simulator, but if so how much so.. ).

It appears the Market Place now requires a client

The base program is free and includes a couple of aircraft and the island of Hawaii. If you wanted additional islands and more aircraft you had to purchase and download the Hawaii pack, and eventually the Alaska pack.  These are no longer available for purchase so if you did not purchase them before Flight was discontinued, then there is no legal way to obtain them now.

As for game vs. simulator, I'm not even going to address this. This subject has been beat to death in this forum and is fuel for posts getting locked and people getting banned. So, we won't go there again.

Thank you.

:Whew:

We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically.

I played it now... so I can answer that - it's a game... no debate needed. (not sure why there would be controversy here but I know how it is with fanboyism).

It seemed to want to allow me to purchase and download the P-51... I'm not prepared to do that right now. FSX is the game for me, I suppose.. though it's kinda nifty (and runs smoother than FSX) but...

I see now why I never heard much hype about it... it's pretty lame, to be honest.

And with that comment, we're done here.

Thank you.
