March 25, 201412 yr You will find that some data from fsx is also on your windows ssd drive as well so when you did a re install of your windows again you have wiped the data for fsx to run, but could be wrong some one we come along for further help hopefully you don't have to re install fsx again I7-8700k,Corsair h1101 cooler ,Asus Strix Gaming Intel Z370 S11 motherboard, Corsair 32gb ramDD4,, gtx 1080ti Card, RM850 power supply Peter kelberg
March 25, 201412 yr Google Flight1 registry repair tool ... http://www.flight1.com/view.asp?page=library Use that to tell the registry where FSX is.All should work, apart from flights. You do not have to re-install. Then, if you have a mate with FSX, copy the flights directory from his 'My Documents' to yours. Robin "Onward & Upward" ... To the Stars, & Beyond...
March 25, 201412 yr The only Jelp I can suggest is to put FSX on one drive only. I hope this Jelps you. Dave Taylor
March 25, 201412 yr If running Win7 or (shudder) Win8, be SURE to run FSX "as administrator". You should also use that option when installing FSX. Paul
March 25, 201412 yr You will find that some data from fsx is also on your windows ssd drive as well so when you did a re install of your windows again you have wiped the data for fsx to run, but could be wrong some one we come along for further help hopefully you don't have to re install fsx again This is correct. Upon reinstalling Windows OS, you wiped out the Appdata FSX folder on the systems drive which contains the information needed for FSX. You also wiped out the Program, data, and Documents folder which have FSX info in them not to mention the Registry. IF you backed up those three folder, installed Windows on the system drive and installed the backup folder back on the system disk then ran the Flight One registry repair, you would be fine. Now the only options are either a FSX repair or installation. Then you will have to reinstall addons to make the DLL.xml file. Wow that was a mouth ful.
March 25, 201412 yr Ideally you should get an SSD for the operating system and programs. 120GB is fine Next you should get another SSD dedicated exclusively for FSX and its addons. If you run FSX low profile and with few addons (no photoreal scenery etc.) then 120GB will be fine. If you install tons of addons, 500GB. If you can't afford an SSD for FSX, then a dedicated HDD is also fine. You won't have any worse performance, it's just that loading times will take longer. I have my FSX installed in the ROOT FOLDER (important) of a dedicated 1TB partition out of a 3TB HDD.
