April 2, 201412 yr Hi, I guess there must be at least one guide to effectively add scenery to FS2004, where is it? When trying to add a scenery, I download the zip file, unzip it into Addon Scenery folder, then I start FS2004, then Settings, Scenery Library, Add Area, navigate the folder, somehow I manage to make it appear first on the list of Scenery Library, priority set to 1,hen I go the place and I see the standard scenery. Am I missing something? Thanks, Robert
April 2, 201412 yr Did you restart the sim? What kind of scenery are you adding/ Some of it is what is called an "afcad" which might be hard to tell if it is active or not. regards, Joe The best gift you can give your children is your time.
April 2, 201412 yr Robert, welcome to FS2004! The restart is unfortunately part of updating the database... Other thing I do is unzip to a temporary folder first, see what you're getting. Then, after reading the readme, I copy the necessary files over to addon scenery or wherever. Sometimes sceneries require overwriting files in the main texture folder or elsewhere, this gives you a chance to backup first.
April 2, 201412 yr WingZ is right. You need to know correctly where to copy the files and that information is usually contained in the readme.txt file that comes in the .zip fle. There is also an anomaly when installing to FSX under Windows 7. Not sure if it happens in FS2004 as well. Here is a link to video that shows how to overcome that issue. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IbWL8VnEqmU Frank Patton Corsair 5000D Airflow Case; MSI B650 Tomahawk MOB; Ryzen 7 7800 X3D CPU; ASUS RTX 4080 Super; NZXT 360mm liquid cooler; Corsair Vengeance 64GB DDR5 4800 MHz RAM; RMX850X Gold PSU;; ASUS VG289 4K 27" Display; Honeycomb Alpha & Bravo, Crosswind 3's w/dampener. And the scenery is Kenmore float base W55 and Lake Union near Seattle from http://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/fslib.php?searchid=22858794
April 2, 201412 yr I have had to do that same procedure 3 or 4 times in order to get the scenery to work. Eventually it did though. Are you using Win7? Jim
