April 14, 201412 yr The PMDG 777LF/F comes with an amazing range and depth of sounds that immerses me. I noticed that each click of a korry switch, rotation of a knob or spring loaded switch may sound different at times. But I have a few question regarding the engines that had me curious, and a few other questions 1. What is the humming you hear after fuel is introduced at engine start? 2. The engine scream at high RPM - is it caused by the fan or the compressor stages? 3. Are there any audio additions/tweaks in SP1? -Beta folks only- 4. Where's that chemtrail switch... David Zambrano, CFII, CPL, IGI I know there's a lot of money in aviation because I put it there.

April 14, 201412 yr 4. You have to press a secret combination of switches with a certain time-interval in order to activate them. With kind regards, Bogdan Misko.

April 14, 201412 yr 1. What is the humming you hear after fuel is introduced at engine start? If I remember it correctly, this phenomenon is known as "combustor rumble". Not sure if PMDG simulated this, but in real life the rumble gets louder the colder it is. The frequency of the rumble doesn't change much, but it's volume dies down once the flow of the mixture inside the combust or (air + fuel) reaches "normal" levels. The second part of the sound, a rather high pitched "howl" is part of the spools spinning up. As the spools in the engine spool up, the frequency of the sound changes up, until it is no longer audible to the human ear. The volume doesn't change much in this case. The combination of these sounds makes the GE90 sound so specific and unique. 2. The engine scream at high RPM - is it caused by the fan or the compressor stages? Once again, if I remember this correctly: The screams/buzzsaw noise are caused by the tips of the fan blades going supersonic. Name available upon request
April 14, 201412 yr Author Once again, if I remember this correctly: The screams/buzzsaw noise are caused by the tips of the fan blades going supersonic. I know that buzzsaw noise is the result of the fan blades, I was wondering if they also make the whining/ scream noise. I thought it could be the compressor blades, since they are much smaller. Smaller blades = higher pitch in most cases, but I wanted to be sure. David Zambrano, CFII, CPL, IGI I know there's a lot of money in aviation because I put it there.
April 14, 201412 yr 4. Where's that chemtrail switch... Haha don't you mean fuel dump ? or Contrails????? MSI Codex 5 10SC-262UK Desktop PC - Intel Core i7-10700, RTX 2060 Graphics, 16GB RAM, 2TB HDD, 256GB SSD.
April 14, 201412 yr In regards to sound enhancements Either Ryan or Robert had told me some time ago that SP1 already has the sounds configured for 5.1 setups, so unless things have changed you may expect that. April 14, 201412 yr Author Haha don't you mean fuel dump ? or Contrails????? Tell that to conspiracy theorists who don't research "They stay in the sky therefore they are made of a chemical compound" - Youtube truthers David Zambrano, CFII, CPL, IGI I know there's a lot of money in aviation because I put it there.
