April 29, 201412 yr Hi! I've been using Squawkbox for about 7 years, the reason I first started using it was because on that time the client was very FPS friendly vs. FSInn. Over time I've become fond of it and really haven't had any need to change it. A while ago I was browsing in the VATSIM forums and saw the new VATSIM Pilot Client project. All these new ideas made me realize that Squawkbox is a little bit off, and nowadays I can handle FSInn without any trouble. But before rushing on installing new modules and altering my perfectly stable FS9 (which has a perfect 55GB balance of addons-modules-aircrafts with no compatibility issues) I would like to hear some opinions to know if it's worth it. a). Does FSInn provide a better model-matching algorithm and interface than Squawkbox? B). How detailed are other players aircraft's?. -Do they have lights according to the real input?. -Do they show correctly the landing gear? -Do they show flaps and other control surface movements?. -How often are they refreshed?. -Any bug or comment about the aircrafts animation that I may have to be aware of?. (for example on Squawkbox aicraft's sort of drown into the ground, which makes it look very unrealistic. c). Known bugs:Has FSInn, FSCopilot any known issues with Level-D, PMDG, iFly and Wilco aircrafts?. Does the transponder work correctly with all of them? d). Any TCAS issues? e). Any usual CTD's with modern PC's, or with the last Catalyst drivers (I'm using forced AA). f). Anything else that you wish to add?. I know that probably there are a hundred of topics talking about this more-o-less, I've spent a few hours gathering information but really I can't answer all my questions and I want to be sure. April 29, 201412 yr a). Does FSInn provide a better model-matching algorithm and interface than Squawkbox? I have not used SQB4 in quite a while, having switched to FSINN a long time ago. it is a little daunting at first, the logic is very different, but once you get used to it, personally, I tried SB4 later and I just could not go back. I think the algorithm is about the same. There are some programs that allow you to install repaints into FSINN and they do most of the matching for you. You can try the excellent WOAI packs and there is a tool available that uploads into FSINN. How detailed are other players aircraft's?. It depends on what model you have in your FSINN database for that aircraft. Again, I use WOAI, and they are very good. Do they have lights according to the real input?. If the AI model is capable, yes. Most models are based on FS9, so some are hit and miss. Known bugs:Has FSInn, FSCopilot any known issues with Level-D, PMDG, iFly and Wilco aircrafts?. Does the transponderwork correctly with all of them? You turn on the transponder in any aircraft, and in FSINN you have to turn on Mode C as well. and away you go. No problems at all. Anything else that you wish to add?. Try it, make sure you follow the sticky in the VATSIM forums, when you are installing, do NOT change any of the settings or enter anything in any of the fields, just leave it all blank and press ENTER until it is all done. Once installed, go and change things. The sticky also has a "Troubleshooting" link for some well known bugs that are easily fixed and away you go. Will Reynolds Flight Sim Addict
April 29, 201412 yr Author Thanks!, I am currently using WOAI with SQB4, I will install FSInn, (after making a backup of my FS9 though). You turn on the transponder in any aircraft, and in FSINN you have to turn on Mode C as well. and away you go. No problems at all. Yes, I was just reading about that, what a shame really, I will miss Squawkbox only because of that, it makes it very unrealistic to use the integrated transponder. I don't know if FSInn has any SDK or API on which I could interact with, I could create a FSUIPC script to sort the issue. Gonzalo Ramazco - SWD1570, STH1476, SKA0397.
April 30, 201412 yr Author another question, as FSInn doesn't support P2P connection anymore, why isn't the same as Squawkbox in terms of refresh rate?. I was really hoping to see multiplayer aircrafts more fluidly. Gonzalo Ramazco - SWD1570, STH1476, SKA0397.
May 2, 201412 yr Now that a new pilot client is out. I would download and use it: http://vpilot.metacraft.com/ I am very pleased with it. Connor Anderson
May 3, 201412 yr Have you had any vpilot CTD issues? If not, can vpilot be installed while keeping FSInn in FSX? Joe.
May 4, 201412 yr Now that a new pilot client is out. I would download and use it: http://vpilot.metacraft.com/ I am very pleased with it. This is the first that I've heard of this new client. Is this more "user-friendly" than FSInn? Is it very stable software? Robert Yunque PilotEdge Ratings = CAT-11 (2016-09-13) I-11 (2016-10-23) V-3 (2016-08-01)
May 4, 201412 yr This is the first that I've heard of this new client. Is this more "user-friendly" than FSInn? Is it very stable software? Yes yes and yes. It was just released this week. I am very pleased with it. Connor Anderson
May 4, 201412 yr Author I would love to use vPilot but it's for FSX only. Gonzalo Ramazco - SWD1570, STH1476, SKA0397.
