ITVV in-flight documentaries

Featured Replies

Hi all.

I've had a newsletter from Flightstore telling me that there's a new range of ITVV flight films retailing for a little under half the previous price. It's enough to make me consider buying a few (I have a sad shortage of flying DVDs) but I can't find any trailers or samples. I suppose copyright is in play there.

How good are they in terms of sound & picture quality, and depth of info? If they're worth buying I'm very tempted to get the lot and I'll put a pointer to them in the Bargain Hunters' forum too.

Cheers,

Dave

Of all the various DVD flight doc series I have, ITVV is the best. They're getting a bit old now, but they are professionally made and fairly in depth, but not instructional.

Simmerhead - Making the virtual skies unsafe since 1987!

In terms of sound & picture quality most of what I've seen from ITVV is standard DVD quality. Those videos are "old".

If you want the best audio & image, PilotsEye is the way to go. However, if you want the most "instructional" videos, ITVV is better in my opinion. Pilots explain more of what they are doing on ITVV, often they get into a simulator and do emergency procedures etc...

Pilotseye and JustPlanes (World Air Routes or whatever) are more of a "jumpseat" perspective of the flight.

Thanks for the replies chaps.

The age of production doesn't really matter (I'm getting pretty long in the tooth myself) so, having seen a couple of trailers for PilotsEye and JustPlanes during my teabreak, I think I'll have to start with a selection from all three.

It looks as though I can't go wrong with any of their productions.

Best regards,

D

I own them all, the A320 one is the best (with CPT. Alan Dix), although the A320 is not my fav tubeliner.

The 747-400 to KSFO, the 737-300 to Lisbon and the 767-300ER to Orlando are also very well done.

The ITVV concorde video is the best imo.

I just found the previews on ITVV's own site. That's the one I've just bought, along with the 733 from Stanstead to Lisbon. Looks like I made the right choice!

Cheers,

D
