Full Screen to Windowed Mode

I can't remember I'm not at home but it's in this tutorial.

This has returned the full screen mode. So I would say this was the best suggestion. However since it really still is in a masked windowed mode, I need to try different settings in NVIDIA Inspector to have smooth movement in the VC. I suspect the problem arises from something having to do with VSync settings in the Inspector and the fsx.cfg file.

Thanks for the help.

Try Razr Game Booster, very easy to use.  Downloaded it last night and have been using it.  No more FSX minimizing suddenly.  It shuts down processes and service that are running in the background.  I believe the problem was Google Now notifications because it is shutting this down completely where as putting it in "do not disturb" it was still running in the background.  Funny thing is i also gained a few more FPS as well.

Try Razr Game Booster

I tried Razer Game Booster and it did not stop the minimizing to the taskbar when in full screen mode. I don't believe the issue is related to background services because I went thru services in the Windows Task Manager and changed quite a few services either to manual, automatic, automatic delayed or disabled per this post http://www.simforums.com/forums/the-fsx-computer-system-the-bible-by-nickn_topic46211.html.

In FSx in "Settings-General" do you have "Pause on Task" unchecked?

Side note, if you are using windowed mode be sure the FSX window is not torching your task bar, it will kill performance

It is unchecked. That deal about the taskbar is a bizarre one. Anyway, I have the taskbar set to auto hide in order to use the fake full screen which is really a masked windowed mode. It looks just like full screen. There are no visual issues when in the 2D cockpit but the VC looks terrible when panning with the mouse and space bar. If I don't move around the cockpit the VC looks great. I would attach a screenshot of the issue but the screenshot shows nothing out of the ordinary. Yesterday I took 79 shots in the NGX and they all looked fine. I am trying different NVIDIA Inspector settings but have given up for right now. Using 2D for MD-11 on PANC-VHHH flight.

Thank you

Okay.  Well it has worked for me and I was having the same exact problem and now it is gone.  Razr Game Booster does require you to check some settings, it doesn't automatically make some changes and shut down certain things unless you configure it to do.  I was just making a suggestion.

It would seem that the real full screen is back. I did three things and I believe it was number 3 that solved the issue.

   1. Ran CClearner to get rid of Windows junk.

   2. Ran CClearner  Registry Clearner. Fixed a 122 items which were mostly related to Microsoft Silverlight.

   3. Ran Flight1 FS Registry Repair Tool. One item was added to the registry.

I thank everyone for their help.

Out of the blue two days ago the full screen went to the taskbar so I am back to using the fake full screen as mentioned in posts #9 and #11. Obviously what I thought was the solution in the above post did not work.  I have tried steps 1-3 several times during the past two days. They don't work.

I post this since I don't want anyone running across this thread in the future to believe this was the solution. If I find a solution I will add another post to say what was done.

I have  installed Game Booster again and in Utilities selected Automatic boost On and Game Booster has closed mbam.exe by default. The other processes listed but not selected are VProTray.exe, jusched.exe, itype.exe, ipoint.exe, igfxpers.exe, CTxfispi.exe, CTxfihlp.exe, and AutoHotKey.exe.

Do you know if any of these processes should be selected.

Also Microsoft Security Essentials has been turned off. Even though it is not shown any place in Game Booster, when I installed the program it was turned off.

Thank you

I don't recognize any of those as they don't run on my machine with the exception of jusched.exe (Windows Update) and it turns that off.  I use Avast and it remains on.  I believe Igfxpers.exe is related to Intel graphics and itype.exe and ipoint.exe are microsoft keyboard and mouse.

Thanks for the answers.

Maybe I gave the wrong impression that this was a one time occurrence but it is a continuing issue that started yesterday morning and has spanned 6 flights with three different PMDG planes. The 737NGX, MD-11, and 777.

I control when Adobe updates run. I use MSE for AV and it is set to run at midnight. I would not try to run either application when I am using FSX.

Look at what may have changed or you changed on your system prior to these incidents. Could be something from days ago, I personally have had this happen with my AV and since shut it and many other things down through AlacrityPC

I was searching the Internet again for a solution and came across a thread which referred to a Microsoft KB and the KB has this link http://support.microsoft.com/kb/331796 which I tried. I think I have isolated the problem to one service - IHP_Message Center from Verizon which is my ISP.. I disabled the service and now FSX is running in the full screen mode for how long I don't know.

Still running in Full Screen mode one year later.  So I would say the solution worked. Thanks to everyone for their help.

Thanks again,
