My ASN weather radar gauge for FSX (&P3D?)

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I think install ok but don't work place BrynsRadar.gau and RadarOPEN in FSX/gauges. Paste the texture for borders in the folder panel.

In the panel folder i have 3 file panel.cfg panel.xgauge and the panel.xgaugebackup what is the correct to add the lines? In the case of T7 or any plane to add the xgauge from asn.

Best Regards.

Add the lines in "panel.cfg". Don't worry about the other files. They're usually backups created by addons that modify your panel.

Thanks. Used it and it works good. What I don't like is the fact FSX now hangs when you shut it down with this gauge. Hope a fix is forthcoming for that bug.

Yeh, you know how you read those developers writing "we're just trying to replicate the bug that is only showing up on a handful of machines" and you think to yourself "yeh, right, it's showing up all over the place I bet, and they just can't work it out...".  Welllll... I'm just trying to replicate the bug that is only showing up on a handful of machines :-P

But seriously, I think it's because I'm not deleting all the objects that I create in the gauge before it closes.  The ESP GDI+ sample code is really nice because it comes all set up as a class, and that should clean itself up when it exits. Except I didn't use any of that, because I was flat out trying to understand the GDI+ stuff.  In future, I'll know better.

Anyway, I'll go back through and tidy the code and see if it helps.  I also have a bug report that the gauge can't be embedded in a VC, and that's probably for a similar reason.

As I said above, I'm in the middle of moving houses, so I'm finding it hard to both fly the sim and program at the moment.  But I'll try to get back to it this week.

I know I do have a lot of fun with the gauge when I get time to use it... Had to hold over Burgas last night because of a big storm that passed over the area.  After a few circuits in the hold with the radar tilted down, things started to green up a bit, and I flew the procedure.  Really a whole new dimension to flight simulator for me.

Also, for those that are interested, there have been 2,264 views of the gauge download page, and 255 downloads!  Thanks for the support!

Hi Jay,

At what point does the gauge crash the sim?  Can you load the aircraft, and then it crashes when you open the gauge, or does it crash when the aircraft is loading?

Bryn.

I've updated the gauge to try and fix the crash-on-exit bug that still showed up for stacks of people.  Let me know if it works now.

You can get it at gum.co/bryn (or I just emailed you if you've already got the gauge).

FWIW, I have installed the gauge (pre bug-fix) in the QW757, Eaglesoft Citation X, and RealAir Duke V2, using both the opener gauge and the radar display itself (without the frame), and have had no crash-on-exit problems when closing FSX.

I run DX10 using the fixer program. One thing I do at the completion of each flight is to power the aircraft completely down to a cold and dark state, and I close the radar display window using the opener.

I always exit FSX using the "exit" option on the pull-down menu.

Hi Bryn

Thanks for your response.

I've just tried the new version in the default Airbus (the gauge is window 15) and the sim crashes when i try to load the gauge from the fs menu(after the plane loads).I get a fatal error message.

Hope you are able to help!

Jay
