My ASN weather radar gauge for FSX (&P3D?)

Recommended Posts

I looked into this, but the HiFi connection requires the radar to be in the sim. My preference is also to take it out of the sim, but I couldn't work out a way to do it (well at least not without incurring some stuttering in the sim).

so about that port....how are you supposed to open the same port for different IPs in a network? that is not possible with NAT

Bryn, this gauge works great.  The only problem is when exiting fsx.  Fsx hangs up and does not exit.  I have to go into task manager to close.  Is this the crash you talk about?

It may well be... I thought I had it sorted because it wasn't crashing on my computers anymore.  Test it and tell me.  Open FSX, select the aircraft and close FSX.  Does it hang?  Next remove the gauge from the panel, open fsx, select the aircraft and close FSX.  Does it still hang?  That will give us a pretty good clue that it's the gauge and not something else.

If it is the gauge, I will look into it this weekend.

Bryn.

Bryn:  I did your test.  When I remove your gauge, all is normal again.  I will continue to use the gauge and have found a work around for now.

Thanks Art. I'll get back to the programming thus week sometime, and will try and track down the bug then.

Just tried the gauge in the QW-757, and it works really well! No adverse impact on frame rates that I can see. I'm using the no-frame version. Only issue was that the text seemed kind of jumbled when I first opened it up, but after expanding the size of the window it looks fine.

Contribution on its way! Thanks for creating this.

Hi Bryn,

I hardly ever post I normally just read the topics I'm one of those guys haha. Fantastic job on the radar mate truly outstanding. It will keep us occupied until fsl and pmdg integrate asn into their radars. I'm noticing a weird problem or bug with the latest wx-t version. For some reason it seems to initially load the wx but as soon as I adjust the range tilt or gain it changes but then it won't change back if I try to adjust any of the other values. Turning on turbulence initially works then if I try to turn it off it's like it lags and won't turn off. It's like it gets stuck at one range and just hangs there. I can't seem to get the radar to work at anything less then 160nm but if I change it to 320 it just gets stuck there. I've tried reinstalling the gauge and ASN and it's happening in all aircraft. Closing the gauge then reopening it doesn't fix it either. I have no idea what's causing it. Any help would be appreciated as this is so cool!!

Cheers,

Matt

In relation to my previous post it seems the new version of fsuipc 929c is causing the issue. Rolling back to the previous version fixed it. Works perfectly now.

Hi Matt,

I've noticed some behaviour like that, but it was sporadic.  I'll be looking at the programming again soon, I hope.  I've just moved houses, so I'm a bit all over the shop right now.

Let me know if it pops up again.

Jim - the jumbled text is my fault.  I'm too lazy to write two lines of code that scales the font size! :-)

Does the default ASN gauge still need to be in the panel.cfg for your gauge to work? I have edited out the default ASN gauge and am using this one in it's place.

The installation of the default ASN gauge is not mandatory for this WXR to work.

Thanks. Used it and it works good. What I don't like is the fact FSX now hangs when you shut it down with this gauge. Hope a fix is forthcoming for that bug.

Hello,

I think install ok but don't work place BrynsRadar.gau and RadarOPEN in FSX/gauges. Paste the texture for borders in the folder panel.

In the panel folder i have 3 file panel.cfg panel.xgauge and the panel.xgaugebackup what is the correct to add the lines? In the case of T7 or any plane to add the xgauge from asn.

Best Regards.
