May 21, 201412 yr I'm assuming that in this case I no longer need Rex 3? Can I safely just uninstall, or does it have ties in with my current textures, even though I've only used Rex 4 lately?
May 21, 201412 yr Your assumptions are correct. I would restore your backup textures before uninstalling REX E+OD. Matt
May 21, 201412 yr Author ok.. if I do that restore, it doesn't affect anything else correct? I mean like Orbx and GEX?... I would just have to choose textures over again in Rex 4? I think it would be better to uninstall, so I can gain the space back!
May 22, 201412 yr Commercial Member REX 4 Texture Direct is NOT a specific replacement for REX Esssential PLus Overdrive. I would say it only adds more to it. There are STILL a lot of great textures with REX Overdrive. Reed StoughManaging PartnerREX SIMULATIONS website: www.rexsimulations.comsupport: www.rexaxis.com
May 22, 201412 yr Unless you are really tight for space you would be mad to ditch REX Esssential Plus Overdrive.. it offers a huge amount of textures that are not availible in REX4, plus you can create custom water colours, something v4 does not do. I would not be without both personally.
May 22, 201412 yr Author Ugh.. I already uninstalled.. but if you use Rex 3 you can't use Rex 4 and vise versa right? When you load a set, aren't you essentially overwriting the previous? I also love that Rex 4 loads soooo much faster!
May 22, 201412 yr Correct, former texture sets get overwritten, but: With each texture 'injection' you can choose whether you inject from REX3 or from REX4. REX4, of course, is the faster one. What happened to AVSIM
May 22, 201412 yr I mix and match, some things from 3 some from 4... yes, REX4 is far quicker, but I don't change textures each flight, or each day so its not an issue.
May 22, 201412 yr I much prefer the cloud textures from 3, and I still use it for weather injection until version 4 is released.
May 23, 201412 yr Your assumptions are correct. I would restore your backup textures before uninstalling REX E+OD. On the contrary. There's no need to uninstall REX OD. That version can still deliver great textures and you can combo them with REX4 TD. For example, you can install ONLY a day texture from REX OD, and have dawn and dusk textures from REX TD. This is also true for any other textures such as clouds. Stand by for the REX4 TD SP2 update and you will see what I mean. REX OD still holds a major value, so it's a waste to throw that away.
May 23, 201412 yr Commercial Member We just released REX 4 Texture Direct Service Pack 2, that now includes an Texture OPTIONS window like in REX Ess. Therefore, you can select what files you like in REX 3 to install and what you like in REX 4 to install and they will not overwrite. http://www.realenvironmentxtreme.com/forums/index.php?/topic/30362-rex-4-texture-direct-service-pack-2-available/ Reed StoughManaging PartnerREX SIMULATIONS website: www.rexsimulations.comsupport: www.rexaxis.com
