FSX Activation Problems

Featured Replies

Tried to install FSX on to my new build today and all went smooth  until activation time. An invalid error came up and I have tried everything in the book, I've called and they couldn't help, I unchecked the Compatibility box, and I've completely re-installed. I am at a loss of where to go here. Any help would be appreciated!

I am running Windows 8.1 on an ASUS gaming laptop.

I had the same problem. Microsoft's 3rd party trouble shooting (in India) fixed the problem by remotely (with permission) went on my computer and added all the upgrades to software (SP1 SP2 etc.). and confirmed that the activation number was indeed valid.

Took a while to connect with the right tech at MS help/troubleshooting); one even suggested I buy a new copy of the game! Assumed I was trying to activate an already activated game!

Let me know if you get it fixed

activations are still working correctly, it's your Windows setup that needs looking into.  Update windows!

I tried calling again today but for some reason my FSX can not find the Installation ID and therefor they can not help me. I have reinstalled many times and have both SP's installed. Any ideas? Thanks guys

have reinstalled many times and have both SP's installed

Sounds like you have installed the SPs before activating FSX which may be incorrect.  I believe current recommendations suggest that you should be running and activating FSX before installing SPs, and they should be installed one-at-a-time while running FSX between each install??

Just to add here  you havnt installed  fsx with accel   and than installed sp1  and  sp2? Since accel has sp1  and sp2  installed already just a thought?

What is the error you are getting and is it the activation of FSX or the subsequent Acceleration that will not activate?.Both have a separate activation. There is a known 'bug' with activating Acceleration on some computers. Requires a small registry edit. But this might not be your problem.

I got it all taken care of. I did a fresh install and tried activating before installing the SPs. The product key in the case still didn't work but for some reason but it came up with an installation ID this time and I was able to call customer support and activate it over the phone. Also I installed FSX in C:/FSX not the C:/Program Files(x86) and I think that helped in out. Anyone having issues Google the PMDG uninstall and reinstall guide on their forums. Helped a ton!
