  1. Try dragging the edges of the small window to resize it to the equivalent of its maximized size rather than maximizing it. That may result in FSX saving the size in the FSX.cfg file. Rick
  2. After a cumulative update from Microsoft (I forced a check for updates), my Saitek devices and my dual monitor setup seem better behaved. I wonder if the throttle quadrant issue (I did not have this problem) will also be alleviated? Rick
  3. Thanks. I will try it. Rick
  4. Here: http://fsgs.com/ I'm having some panels response issues after 10-15 minutes, though, but the joystick does NOT disconnect. Still some USB issues to sort out, I guess. Edit: Loss of response may be a SPAD.neXt issue -- same flight was fine with SPAD driver.
  5. This has been stated in a lot of places but I'm not sure it is true. There is a setting that supposedly turns off automatic device driver updates, in my Win 10 Pro anyway -- right-click the start button and select System/Advanced System Settings/Hardware tab/Device Installation Settings. I guess only time will tell how effective this setting is. Rick
  6. Most but not all of the entries I saw had the EnhancedPowerManagement entries and those were the only ones I edited. I did not touch any that did not already have this entry. The Twitter post from Saitek does not specify which products they are looking at. I use SPAD or SPAD.neXt drivers for panels. Rick
  7. I experienced no display on the Saitek Multipanel after upgrading and I found a "fix" from Microsoft that applied to Windows 8.1 -- I recall having the problem in Win 8.1 too. Anyway, after editing the Registry for all HID input devices and rebooting, my Multipanel display returned as it did in Win 8.1. http://forum.avsim.net/topic/424250-saitek-multipanel-display-not-working-with-windows-81/ http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2900614
  8. Excellent!! Seems to do the job nicely after a quick test!! Thanks, again. Rick
  9. Thanks for posting the link to your test files, Bad_T. I tried them and the area is indeed nicely flattened so perhaps this might help the OP, too. I do see what appears to be some odd mesh or ground textures showing in some spots but I'm guessing this is as good as it can be without the originator's terrain installed. Mine is default FSX. Thanks, again. Rick
  10. Bryan, I would be interested in hearing how you make out with ADE and elevation adjustment. I installed and experimented with this after I saw your first post but I had limited success after a first attempt to change the altitude of the entire airport. I could still see a lot of sunken areas and buildings and I thought perhaps it was the original scenery design that was intended for Ultimate Terrain that was causing the issue with default mesh. If you are successful, I would like to try your changed .BGL files. Thanks. Regards, Rick
  11. Sounds like you have installed the SPs before activating FSX which may be incorrect. I believe current recommendations suggest that you should be running and activating FSX before installing SPs, and they should be installed one-at-a-time while running FSX between each install?? Rick
  12. Try lowering the prop_tc= value in the Propeller section of the Aircraft.cfg file. I lowered one from 0.1 to 0.006 for example to reduce this kind of movement in the VC (in FSX). Rick
  13. Have a look at http://forum.avsim.net/topic/423937-help-after-win-81-installation-no-dx10-checkbox/ as a possible solution?

  15. Interesting.... I never needed the uiautomationcore fix in Windows 7 64-bit but FSX almost immediately CTDed, pointing to this .DLL when I upgraded to Windows 8 64-bit. So, I put the so-called "correct" version in the FSX root folder and I have not noticed any problems. I wonder where the incompatibility report originates? Rick
  16. There is more info, including a link to the manual, at: http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?showtopic=41651 It does seem to be a good deal but I'm hesitating because it appears that it would be preferable to re-define some of my joystick buttons to make control somewhat easier which, of course, would mess with the definitions I have for fixed-wing aircraft. Tough choices.... Rick
  17. I see that you can buy directly from UrbanMaxx now for $4.95 US. I did awhile ago and I found it made a big difference flying low in urban areas (regional NA) without having to adjust any rendering settings. YMMV as always. Who knows how it will compare with 10.30?? Seems good to me in the interim, anyway. Rick
  18. Illustrated in the manual on page 16.... I couldn't remember where the switches were so I looked them up.
  19. Thanks Mitch. The odd thing is, though, I don't find any reference to missing flags in the Log.txt file but several references to missing objects pointing to a folder inside the CYYZ Custom Scenery. Very confusing.... Furthermore, the only library listed in the requirements on the download page is OpenScenery 2. More confusion. I wonder if something is missing because I am running only X-Plane 10 Regional: North America. Have you checked your Log.txt file for reports of missing stuff? Perhaps these reports can be ignored. I think I'll just leave it at that; it is beta after all. Rick
  20. I see the warning, too, and the Log.txt file reports missing objects. Rick

Try the key combination Winkey/q (Winkey is the Windows key between Ctrl and Alt on the left) -- there is the list of all the programs that have been installed much like the Start/Programs menu. Personally I don't find that huge list very useful. I make my own list or use conventional desktop shortcuts (press the Winkey to quickly switch between the Start screen and the conventional desktop). You can make a folder, put all your favourite shortcuts in it, and add it to the task bar using the toolbars/new toolbar... option (right-click on the task bar). There are lots of customizations available but, most importantly, maybe try some of the many keyboard shortcut keys instead of groping about with the mouse all the time. For example, Winkey/x pops up a useful menu that can be faster than trying to navigate to various settings and Control Panel apps. Winkey/c pops up the Charms menu on the right -- easier than groping for just the right spot with the mouse. Google for more.... Rick
  22. What I see in Windows 8 (actually installed, not assumed) is that MSE has been replaced by Windows Defender which combines both applications, not the converse. I believe there is a place in Windows Defender settings (in Windows 8) where the Defender part (malware monitoring) can be disabled. Rick
  23. Thanks for the heads up and the update. I have a couple of those installers and am very interested in your findings. I see that there is a recommendation on Just Flight's discussion Forum to re-download updated installers. This may work for the A320 package mentioned there, but I have at least two older models that don't seem to have been updated and have installers that are still 4.1.xxx. Newer releases seem to have installers that are not 4.1 and may be fine. Rick
  24. Be careful. You may be able to delete the .EXE installers without damaging anything but there may be other files in that folder that are important. You may find Proof of Purchase files there that might be useful for renewing downloads or getting support and updates. There may also be licence files there that could have an impact on the proper functioning of your addons. Rick
  25. Just connected at Ketchikan fine so perhaps you weren't using the latest beta release after all?? Try downloading it again, maybe? I guess these suggestions are obvious ones that you have likely tried already so there may well be some other obscure cause.... Rick
