May 29, 201412 yr I have converted flytampa's kai tak to xplane 10, but there are 2 issues I'm facing. Everything looks pretty good except I get this layer of haze over the city that I can't seem to get rid of, and the runways at Kai Tak airport don't quite line up correctly, so you see 2 runways. If someone has converted this awesome addon and got it to look right in X-Plane 10, I'd appreciate if anyone can help me fix these issues so that I can use this scenery. Here are some screenshots to show the problems: Runway isn't lining up properly, and if you look you can see a layer of haze/smog above the city that came from the conversion that I don't want. May 29, 201412 yr Moderator When converting sceneries, I normally have to make some minor edits to get them to look correct. An easy way to do this is using OverlayEditor http://marginal.org.uk/x-planescenery/tools.html If you download this, then you can open up the scenery package and delete or move items, e.g. You should be able to delete the hazy patch For the runway, you might need to use WED (http://developer.x-plane.com/tools/worldeditor/), which will let you move the runways, etc.
May 29, 201412 yr Author tonywob, i'll give that a try, thanks for your suggestion. I tried to move the runway in OE but it seemed impossible and it was hard to position it correctly without affecting other objects. But I'll see if I can move just the runway with WED. May 29, 201412 yr It looks from the pics and usually is the case that you'll need to move the entire field left. In WED, make sure you have Marquee selected and grab everything and move left. I find you need both OE and WED open, make a move in WED and refresh OE to see how the alignment is, move and refresh until it's right. Not at all sure if the buildings will move too though I tend towards doubting it. Such projects I've always found a nightmare because buildings are seldom composed of just one piece that can be easily moved but seem to come across in their constituent pieces which makes matching their respective moves difficult to say the least.
November 18, 201411 yr How do you delete the hazy patch in the Overlay Editor? What is the name of the hazy patch file to delete? November 23, 201411 yr Author I'm not sure how to delete that hazy patch, it's been bugging me though, and I still can't get the runway and surrounding area to line up properly. November 23, 201411 yr Isnt the haze an optional install in fsx/fs9 when installed in fsx/fs9. If it is simply do not tick it when installing in FSX theoretically and then convert the scenery to X plane. Or maybe you can search for the haze textures in overlay editor and delete it.
