June 7, 201411 yr ****FROM WAGS**** 7 June 2014 Dear all,We learned from Valve/Steam that they will be unable to continue merging DCS keys purchased outside of the Steam Store. As such and as of today, please note that any keys purchased outside of the Steam Store can no longer be used to activate DCS products on Steam. We will be working with Steam to merge all keys purchased prior to today. We can make no promises as to when or if this will happen though… that is out of our hands. Thanks 100%75%50%d8a34be0e82d98b5a45ff4336cd0dddc Patrick
June 7, 201411 yr One of the reasons I really do not like to buy through Steam, never considered buying DCS DLCs from them, nor Rise of Flight, a simulator I am becoming a big fan of, ex aequo with IL2 BoS. My experience with Steam and flight simulation started with MS FLIGHT, and I'de rather forget about it, altough that wasn't Steam's fault... Even if a bit more expensive, I really prefer to buy directly from the producer, whenever that's possible, just like I did recently with Rise of Flight. I have bought my latest DLCs for DCS World and RoF at special / promotional sales, at excellent prices, and I really feel I am contributing more directly to support the Devs effort. June 7, 201411 yr I'm the complete opposite as I LOVE Steam and enjoy having my entire library in one easily manageable spot, been with them since launch, have 171 games in my library, always update automatically and they have started the Streaming option where I can use my more powerful desktop to stream my games to play on my low-end laptop. Steam is the best thing to happen for PC gaming. As far as keys go, that the developers fault as they must prove Steam the Keys to hand out.
June 8, 201411 yr Vincent, I'm sure you can find a lot more of value in Steam than I do, just as many other simmers I know, and I can perfectly understand it when someone has so many games. For me, and since I only use flight simulation games, and am usually very selective about what I have installed, Steam is useless for the time being for the reasons I explained and also because I could not have used ELITE, FSX or X-Plane10 with it. I did use Steam for some MS FLIGHT DLCs, and for Aerofly FS, but I no longer use either... Heard about X-Plane 10 going Steam a couple of months ago, but no further info on that recently? Regarding what I use now - DCS World, IL2 Battle of Stalingrad, Rise of Flight and Condor soaring, the option to buy RoF through Steam would impose limits on the servers I use for online flying, and even on the DLCs I could have licensed. I chose to buy directly from the producer. A friend of mine has pointed out though the many advantages of using Steam, namely a great picture capturing tool that comes with it, etc.... Unfortunately, not enough to justify having it, again, installed on my system :-/ Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)
