June 10, 201411 yr Before I spend my hard earned money on the Q400, I want to make sure it works well enough, so my apologies for asking more questions. The Q400 is a bit unique in it's workings so it is more of a gamble then other addons. I have been doing some research and a couple of things seem to keep cropping up. One is the Q400 bouncing up and down. The second is the Q400 temporally freezing in flight but the sound still running. I really want to buy this product as I need a short regional aircraft to fly around the UK. I have a European flyer and a long distance flyer, both of which are top quality and the Majestic Q400 will fit in perfect. If these problems have been solved then I will be buying straight away. Thanks in advance for all the help.
June 10, 201411 yr I have never had the bouncing issue although some have reported it. I believe this is now fixed with the latest patch. The temporary freezing is something that it appears cannot be avoided. The Q400 essentially uses a different sim from NASA to generate its flight characteristics and the timer of that sim and FSX/P3D need to be in sync. Over time they get out of sync a little bit so you can get a slight pause where the Q400 stops moving but everything else in FSX keeps going (its really odd) until the timers resync. This pause is usually about 1 to 2 seconds and I normally see it only once during a flight and normally on the taxi out to the runway.....rarely in flight and I am not sure I have seen it on landing. I guess I would say its a small price to pay for near perfection of a passenger turboprop sim. Mark CYYZ
June 10, 201411 yr I had the bouncing until I set an affinity mask in FSX.cfg Never seen the pausing Glenn Ryzen 3700X, X570 Pro Wifi, 32GB 3600mhz RAM, Nvidia Titan Xp "Galactic Empire", RM750x PSU, H700 case, 2x NVMe M2 SSD, 1x SATA SSD
June 10, 201411 yr never had either of the issues as of yet I7-8700k,Corsair h1101 cooler ,Asus Strix Gaming Intel Z370 S11 motherboard, Corsair 32gb ramDD4,, gtx 1080ti Card, RM850 power supply Peter kelberg
June 10, 201411 yr Speaking from P3Dv2.2. When the aircraft is first loaded it can take 3 or 4 seconds to settle (it seems to be loaded slightly too high so it drops down and has a small "jiggle"). However I never have any other bouncing and I've certainly not noticed any pauses. YMMV. This aircraft is epicly epic and full to the brim of epicness. I love it
June 10, 201411 yr Thanks to all for your answers. I think I have made my mind up to buy, to be honest I think I had already wanted to buy no matter what people said as the video's on YouTube look great. MarkW - With regards to the timing, that make sense as the clock on board is always out of sync with my system clock on my PC, even when I sync them it wonders. I know that AivlaSoft EFB and a few other programs have an option to sync the clocks so I wonder if that would help. SouthPawPaul - Again this makes sense. If the aircraft spawns higher then when it settles, FSX will look at the suspension figures. If it is too high then it will think it is crashing and bounce, which is why on some pages they mention changing some gear settings, suppose it is to make the suspension harder. Thanks for everybody's input.
June 11, 201411 yr There are two timer options to use on the Q400 Control Panel but neither seems to do the job for me. Mark CYYZ
June 11, 201411 yr Mark, have you tried freeing up one of your cpu cores, for the q400? ie; AM =7. regards, Craig.
June 11, 201411 yr I think I am running about as efficiently as I can (given the hardware I have which I think is GPU limiting). I have tuned my computer as per the NickN guide. I do use an affinity setting, but honestly can't recall which one at the moment. Mark CYYZ
June 12, 201411 yr Mark you can try this if you want to maybe it will work maybe not you can save your fsx.cfg to a safe place delete you fsx.cfg and let it rebuild a new one and just add the basic tweaks like I have since I havnt followed any guide at all and only got the 2 basic tweaks in my fsx.cfg and I havnt got any issues with anything thing at all. June 12, 201411 yr Hi Mark, Do you get the freezing when you fly the Q400 without using live weather? I used to use FSGRW, and it gave me horrible stutters and freezes, every time it updated the weather. I was wondering if maybe weather engines that tie up simconnect, may be the cause here. cheers, Craig.
