Posted Today, 04:24 AM Hi All, I have spent years thinking about upgrading my one 30 inch flight sim monitor into a multi monitor array---and two months ago i took the financial plunge and bought 4 more 30 inchers and a 19 inch monitor and built a hot new computer with all the power and bells and whistles as well as two new Nvidia 760 Video cards with two gig of video on board each card and spent the next 40 days re-doing my office and my garage to handle the new set up---it has been an exausting period and I am really tired---the new set up looks great and my friends and neighbors are impressed with the new look flight sim---(no more ugly wires everwhere0----BUY alas as cool as my new set up looks the system is not running well---I have all new insalation of FSX--with sp2 acceleration pack and Reg copy of fsuipc--the computer is good---(I have been doing this for over twenty years and have gone down all the roads to getting a good working sim---did the froogle sim tweeks and the FSXGenius tweeks and the HIGHTMEMFIX=1 stuff---But---and this is really my present problem and question---when I drag secondary windows to the other monitors it crashes the sim--last week I was getting multiple windows of work but now I might work on one other monitor but crash if I try two others---I bought a Matrox tripple head to go and that does work but I hate it because it is hust a big strech of one window and is distorted and at a res much lower the my nice 30 inch 2500 by 1600 which makes my good scenery so imersive and exciteing. I am hopeing that some one here can and help wisdow and understnding to my sim inteligence. Thanks ans Cheers Dorn
June 16, 201411 yr ON my system I can only use four different displays, (THTG0 as one display for outside view using 2D view).....when I add a fith one and move a window to it then I received a crash...I have a splitter for the co-pilots and pilots display this way I run five different displays with out crashing using only four outputs from the computer video boards...I am able to run four video card outputs with out crashing...I dont know if this was your problem or not.... percy lee
June 16, 201411 yr Commercial Member Here you go... http://www.davebritzius.com/flight-simulator-cockpits-three-monitors-or-more Should solve all your issues... but multiple computers are needed. To my knowledge, there is no way to accomplish what you're looking for without them. June 17, 201411 yr Commercial Member You are more than welcome! Make me jealous by getting that all up and running, and you can teach me when I'm ready to go from three monitors to 8. The great thing about that software is that it allows you to change each monitor in 6DOF- so each of four to six monitors can ACTUALLY serve as flight deck windows! So very, VERY cool! Good luck, stay in touch! I'll send you a friend request. June 23, 201411 yr when I drag secondary windows to the other monitors it crashes the sim ON my system I can only use four different displays, (THTG0 as one display for outside view using 2D view).....when I add a fith one and move a window to it then I received a crash The CTD when moving content onto a fifth (5) display is a limitation of FSX which I have not seen widely documented. There is a workaround but it's far from satisfying and requires operation in windowed mode to display content on monitors 5+: Prior to loading FSX, remove displays from Extended Desktop until only four (4) displays are active. This is done in Windows 7 by right clicking the desktop, selecting Screen resolution, clicking on each monitor to be disabled, and then selecting "disable" from the Multiple displays drop down pick list. Start FSX and load an aircraft and make sure you are running in Windowed (as opposed to Full Screen) mode. I use the default ultralight at Friday Harbor flight. End that flight and return to the FSX flight load window. Minimize FSX and add the previously removed displays -- select "Extend" from the drop down pick list. Return to FSX and either load the desired NGX aircraft or load a saved flight. I run a hardware flight deck and have saved flights with the required window placements. I just load that flight once I complete the loading machinations. I prefer to fly in Full Screen mode and the windows on monitors 5+ are not displayed in Full Screen mode. My fifth monitor is my Lower EICAS and I therefore startup the aircraft in Windowed mode and switch to Full Screen when I'm ready to Taxi. I have plans in the future to remove borders (using AutoHotKey) and create a start-up macro that does all of this for me systematically. For now, it's a few more minutes prior to flight to get everything properly configured. Hope this helps... ...DaddyBooks Robert Booker Robert Booker
June 23, 201411 yr Author Thanks DaddyBooks I have been playing around with this problem for weeks now---I have taken the whole deal down a few pegs for the time being and now am just trying to get three monitors to work well---even this is a problem (I get all sorts of weird diagonal paterens in the windows when I run a main view and two side views)--this must be a memory issue (I thought that two 760 cards with 2 gigs of onboard memory on each card would solve this issue)---I am going to call Nvidia tech support and ask how to make sure that my Video cards are helping process as much of the fsx video as possible---!!! It took me weeks to rearange my office for this new cool looking sim setup---my wife was even suportive in that it made all the wires in the office sort of disappear---but now I need to make it work!!! June 23, 201411 yr I just got three 27" monitors set up last week running p#D. A single Titan runs all three without breaking a sweat. Mark
June 23, 201411 yr Author Mark what is p#D and how high is the rez on yr monitors---I take it that " a single Titan" is a video card--is that correct? Thanks and cheers Dorn
June 25, 201411 yr Sorry, P3D. Yes, the nVidia Titan is a single card. Max resolution with this setup is 1080. I'm not at my computer but I think I'm at 5760 x 1080. It's a bit lower that my native Dell Ultrasharps resolution but very manageable nonetheless. Two DVIs and one HDMI power these three monitors from the Titan. I'm going to set up an additional monitor from the display port to run my FMC. We'll see how that goes. Cheers, Mark

Cheers Dorn Dorn this could be an issue with running two video cards.Take out one and try the three monitors again. Apart from providing extra video ports I suspect that the second card is doing nothing to help fsx. gb. YSSY.
