Unless you've updated your scenery to match the new frequency, it's not going to work correctly. Either update the frequency by downloading a new BGL for the airport (commonly incorrectly referred to as an AFCAD), or change the data in your Navdata to reflect the old frequency. Kyle Rodgers

Hi Kyle, as in "the other thread": IMO it would be nice for the clients to choose between FSX and RW (AIRAC) data usage in the PMDG FMCs. Here is the concerned EDDF data excerpt of the PMDG ARPT_RWY data reflecting the immense changes of RWYs and their frequencies: AP;EDDF;FRANKFURT/MAIN ;50.033306;8.570456;329 RW;07C;50.032617;8.534631;329;11055;068;068;13123 RW;07L;50.037056;8.497078;305;11030;068;068;9186 RW;07L;50.037056;8.497078;305;11175;068;068;9186 RW;07R;50.027542;8.534175;328;11095;068;068;13123 RW;18;50.034169;8.525931;326;0;178;178;13123 RW;25C;50.045128;8.586981;364;11155;248;248;13123 RW;25L;50.040053;8.586531;362;11115;248;248;13123 RW;25R;50.045825;8.533717;353;11135;248;248;9186 RW;25R;50.045825;8.533717;353;10975;248;248;9186 FS;07L;50.032612;8.534585;364;11010;069;069;13099 FS;07R;50.027508;8.533969;364;11095;069;069;13102 FS;18;50.034420;8.525881;364;0;179;179;13123 FS;25L;50.040020;8.586417;364;11070;249;249;13102 FS;25R;50.045124;8.587026;364;10950;249;249;13099 FS;26L;50.035343;8.566838;364;11135;249;249;8202 (BTW: the PMDG FMC RWY database file has "doublets" for 07L/25R RWYs with differing frequencies !?) RWYs 07L and 25R are newly built. RWYs 07C and 25C are the former 07L/25R. 07R/25L remained physically unchanged. The only ILS frequency unchanged is the one for 07R... So from a clients point of view it would be very nice to have a little tool (perhaps inside the "PMDG Operations Center") in which you can chose which RWY data the FMCs will use. A complier that extracts the respective lines to an either/or database should not be too complicated to build. Greetings, Claus Claus KUEPPER

June 23, 201411 yr Thank you Claus, descent for an approach on Nürnberg EDDN ILSZ28 INUW 109.10 the same case i think Yes. PMDG ARPT_RWY.dat excerpt: AP;EDDN;NURNBERG ;49.498700;11.078008;1022RW;10;49.500550;11.059169;1022;11130;097;097;8858RW;28;49.496925;11.096025;1046;11175;277;277;8858RW;28;49.496925;11.096025;1046;10910;277;277;8858FS;10;49.500549;11.059137;1046;11130;098;098;8841FS;28;49.496925;11.096058;1046;10910;278;278;8841 There again is a "doublet" frequency, here for RW RWY28. The second one seems not to used by the FMC as it would have matched the (old) FS frequency... Probably PMDG staff follows this thread and they can give us an opinion our outlook on this subject. June 24, 201411 yr Commercial Member Probably PMDG staff follows this thread and they can give us an opinion our outlook on this subject. I still don't see the point of what you're asking - either use RW data, or don't update your nav data. As was pointed out in the other thread, you can easily install the old AIRAC and remain in the past (and save money in the process by not having to update). If you want to update your navdata, you'll have to update the sim. It's truly a small "price" to pay. Not sure why you'd want to shift that burden unnecessarily onto the developers, requiring them to program something in to handle the handful of people who want to be only half up-to-date. Keep up with the real world; or Don't. This in between business makes no sense. In any case, if you really want their attention, submit a ticket. They don't always see every topic. This is a community support forum, not official support. Kyle Rodgers
June 24, 201411 yr Author Is it difficult to find/buy and install those airacs, i'have read about navigraph, and they will be usable for all plane's in FMC i think... Regards Jaap Mooyer
June 24, 201411 yr I still don't see the point of what you're asking - either use RW data, or don't update your nav data. Yes, I agree with either or. But wouldn't it be nice to have the choice to say "FMC RWY data is out of the box compatible to a fresh FS installation"? So no matter which FS (FSX, P3D, XP10) one uses: after the installation there is no problem with FMC RWY-designator or ILS/LOC-frequency or even physical-presence of RWYs anymore... So this would be a good solution for users like Jaap who just want the FMC in sync with their sim without having to update frequently... But I also see your point, that it is important to have a common up to date world for e.g. VATSIM... So, as I said, choosing between FMC using newest AIRAC data OR "old" FS data would be IMO a good feature. Is it difficult to find/buy and install those airacs, i'have read about navigraph, and they will be usable for all plane's in FMC i think... It is not so difficult. The question IMO is what you are planning to do. If you want to fly absolute realistic up to date routes to up to date airports and all that eventually on e.g. VATSIM, than you "must" update. But if you just want to fly "your" routes to FS airports with flightplans made by FSX (or an external flight planner like FSC) using the "old" database, than you do not need an update. Unfortunately the FMC data provided by e.g. PMDG is set to "up to date" AIRACs. And this is my point here: why not giving the customer the choice to choose between the two options? June 24, 201411 yr Author Thank you Claus, a bit dangerous to think about something I do not understand, why doesn't commercial company FMC use this opportunities, possibility to switch for FMC users with updated AIRAC data, or for the old FS data  Regards Jaap Mooyer
June 24, 201411 yr I've bought a single Navigraph AIRAC cycle in my life, downloaded it in all the formats needed for my different addon planes (and for VoxATC) at once, carefully backed up all these downloads to an external medium, and have been a happy simmer since. Now all my planes use the same navigation database that VoxATC uses, and no matter how aged this database will look some day, it will still give me consistent data across all my addons. B) What happened to AVSIM
June 24, 201411 yr Thank you Claus, a bit dangerous to think about something I do not understand, why doesn't commercial company FMC use this opportunities, possibility to switch for FMC users with updated AIRAC data, or for the old FS data  Because planet Earth was a different place to live and fly back in 2006. Here's the problem: As soon as you install the first airport addon you lose the compatibility with that old database and your FSX becomes hybrid of old and new infrastructure (new airport scenery has different runways, ILS freqs, SID/STARS... and you try to combine it with old airways and enroute fixes - that simply doesn't work). June 24, 201411 yr Author I'm sorry, abbreviation failure of me, must be, why commercial company Flightsim Commander doesn't use this possibility to switch for FMC users with updated AIRAC data, or for the old FS data. Regards Jaap Mooyer
July 23, 201411 yr Hello all, I agree with Kyle's summary that you have 2 main choices. Why make it more difficult for yourself by inventing an intermediate solution. The two options are quite clear. One can argue the merits of why flightsim developers select a particular strategy but it is what it is. In reference to the doublet ILS approaches, Frankfurt has introduced an additional ILS/glideslope for the Northwest runway. The typical Glide Path is 3 deg however the secondary ILS signal has a GP of 3.2 deg. Flying either ILS approach is your decision based on agreement with ATC. If you wish to fly these multiple ILS then as mentioned, updating your airport to one of the latest add-on sceneries that has these ILS updates would make most sense and the accompanying AIRAC for whatever aircraft you are flying. I would recommend you check the airport package readme instructions to determine if these are supported. Not every EDDF package or updated AFCAD supports them. If you really want to fly in the "old world" then for EDDF I think you're stuck with the default FSX airport I am afraid. The purchase of a single AIRAC cycle from Navigraph is very straightforward. Create an account , select the FMS data for the current cycle, enter your payment details and download the relevant package(s) for your aircraft fleet. I think current price is ~6Euros for one cycle and you can download all AIRACS for all aircraft that are supported by Navigraph. Remember this gives you latest info on all airports across the world.
