August 2, 201411 yr Question? Do I need to go into the FMC and remove the activation or un-install off my old PC to install on new one? The problem is I cannot start my "old" PC because it will only boot in safe mode. Even then it will crash So will having the ngx and 777 install on my PC that is going in the bin course me any problems come installing on new PC. Thanks. David Murden. August 3, 201411 yr I dont think so. I believe there isn't any processes sending "de-activation" to the pmdg server They can probably see the license has been installed again, and on a different PC. You IP adress is likely to be the same, so they can see it's the same user that way. Either way I guess you would need to do multiple installs on different computers / different IP adresses, in a short Span of time, for some monitoring system to trigger for manual action by the staff. So you shouldn't be worried about installing it again IMO.
August 3, 201411 yr Author That's what I thought, thanks Sam David Murden. Furthermore IP is in very little way a valid enough identifier. First, you often change the IP of your computer, especially if you have a laptop you carry with you. Even then, most ISPs will rotate your IP addres upon new connection. And some even batch many customers under one external IP.. Not even talking about proxy software.. The activation is tied to the specific hardware. As for the number of installs... you have two or three activations by default. The system automatically denies any further, whatever IP, same or not, short timespan or long. Further than that, you will have to either: -deactivate one of activated copies -ask PMDG to reset the counter. This is the only practical option for NGX (which does not have deactivation option yet) and hardware crashes. --Peter Fabian
August 4, 201411 yr I am facing a similar problem but my case is better as my old computer is still barely working and I can access most things on it if I cajole and talk to it nicely. I want to remove things from it urgently as it is in its twilight days. Where can I get instructions to de-register all my PMDG products - MD11, 737NGX, 747X, Jetstream 4100 and 777 so I can reinstall them on the new computer? I am not a very highly computer literate person. Seetella Makhetha
August 4, 201411 yr Hi Guys, As far as I know there's no "de-register" option for the MD-11. 737 NGX, 747X etc., but only for the 777 via the FMC. You will therefore have a "limited" number of re-installs for all the pre-777 products by simply re-installing using your original key. I've re-installed my MD-11 and 737NGX a couple of times over the last 2 years... didn't de-register anywhere and there was no need for a support ticket. The 777 must be de-registered via the FMC... if you can't then you'll have to create a support ticket with PMDG for them to be able to verify your details and to assist in getting you up and running again. Once again, this is according to my limited knowledge... please don't shoot me if not 100% accurate. The "experts" will surely jump in and update where necessary. Jean Joubert
August 5, 201411 yr Thanks for the input, Jean, I will try to reinstall them this afternoon and hope it all works. Seetella Makhetha
August 5, 201411 yr Author Well the NGX and the 777 both installed and activated with no problems. Never deactivated on old PC, that's now in the bin. Only installed Global- vector and LC. But then installing PFPX, ASN, REX4, FS2Crew, EZdok, trackIR, Hotas warthog.....the time all that takes is just amazing, then add all airports.....Zzzzzz I've only installed the NGX and 777, think I will use FSX for PMDG and P3D for GA/ q400 flying, when 2.3 comes out. Hope the GTX with 6gb will help in P3D. More memory on the GTX than fsx can use total lol. David Murden.
