August 26, 201411 yr I never installed FSX in its default location and never had any problems. + 1 Bert
August 26, 201411 yr Commercial Member mee too! hehe I've got quite a few differing installations across WinXP to Win8.1 including several in non-default locations, just like yours. I've not had any problems either, however they are not as easy to install or administer, and they do indeed invoke problems with certain addons and setups, as this discussion has revealed all too readily. August 26, 201411 yr I have my UAC on the first "click" up, doesn't bother me too much (Win7, wouldn't say that for older versions). I mounted an SSD to the folder C:\fsx and as far as the system and all addons are concerned, fsx is at C:\fsx. I've also used symbolic links between folders in the past to move stuff around, while still appearing to be "within" fsx. scott s. .
