New Vrinsight MCP II Boeing Setup HELP!

Featured Replies

Hi Guys

I just purchased the VRinsight MCP Combo II Boeing. I was using Linda before with the Saitek panels, Switch,Radio & Multi. Everthing worked with the Saitek Panels using Linda.

I hooked up the new MCP panel, but did not install the VRinsight software. I used Linda, for the MCP2 setup and all appeared well. Linda recognized the MCP panel and correct Comm port. I selected the reload lua selection and the MCP panel came to life indicating display items such as com1, hdg, alt, vs. I can press any button but nothing happens and none of the selections change. Is there something else I should do????

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thx, Tom

Do you have FSUIPC installed?  I've seen it happen that LINDA thinks a port is right but it's not the right port.  You'll need to check that.  Also, do you have it working with a default FSX aircraft like the C172?

Hi Gregg

I have the paid version of FSUIPC installed. Linda settings all come up green "ok". The plane I am using is the PMDG 737-800NGX WL.

When I look at the MCP Combo it indicates a bunch of settings for the aircraft but as I said the MCP Panel is frozen and almost not connected. It comes up with Spd,Hdg,Alt,V/S & Com1 settings but none of the diles or buttons do anything.

Apart from checking the port, the only thing I'd recommend is to go ahead and install the VRInsight software.  I installed it.  Doesn't interfere if you don't run it.  It will let you do some tests outside of FSX.

When you are in Linda and you have selected the MCP Combo, if you select a button or rotary knob on the MCP does it light up the display portion of the screen. When I run my mouse over the HDG knob, it hightlights and the HDG knob input data shows up blue on the screen.

if you push the button for HDG on the MCP should the corresponding button light up on the screen?

If by 'MCP' you mean the one displayed on the screen then, I think the answer's yes.  If you mean the actual hardware, then no...not on mine.  Like I mentioned, I'd use a default C172 for testing and the VRInsight software as well.

Have you tried pressing the "1, 2, 3" auxiliary buttons at the top of the radio portion? The Linda setup for my MCP uses those buttons to toggle between different functions for various payware aircraft. Since I don't use payware aircraft (I usually fly a TDS 783), I had to comment these out in the MCP lua file before I could get anything to function. Also, the rotaries on the EFIS didn't work until I pressed the switch in once.

Good luck. I really like mine.

Cheers

Hi Tom, I don't wish to state the obvious, but if you're like me, I often overlook the obvious, so forgive me. Remember, the Vri Panel has to be turned on before starting a flight, if not, then it won't work. I simply fire it up before starting FSX.

Hi

I get the Linda working with the MCP Panel. I also installed the software that came with the VRinsight MCP panel and ran it after disabling it in Linda. Using the Vri software everything almost worked. All the EFIS panel and the Com Panel worked. Every button did what it was supposed to do. The center section everything works except for the display window. You can set HDG,SPD,ALT,etc. but all the displays remain at 00000. The displays in the cockpit of the FSX are changing to what you want.

Will keep trying other things and let you know. I want to get this to work with Linda if I can.

Thx again,  Tom

You likely need to enable the NGX SDK broadcast facility otherwise the displays will not synchronise, same is true for the 777 too. Details are on the page below.

See the section;

PMDG 737NGX & 777X Users:

- Latest Service Pack MUST be installed (SP1c for 737NGX, SP1b for 777X)

- Read carefully “ENABLING DATA OUTPUT”. Need to set data-out option after installation.

Cheers, Andy.

Next step is to load up that C172 and see if it works.  If that works then Andy's post might be the thing you need.  If the C172 doesn't work (you should be able to change radio frequencies or the heading bug) then I *would* try some other ports.  Linda has told me everything is cool when, in fact, it wasn't right.  Another port might say it's okay as well.

Hi, Sorry I was away for a while.

I installed my Vrinsight Boeing MCP panel and am still trying to get it working. I load up FSX, and when Linda loads I check the Linda main screen to check the button parameters and it says Module: PMDG 737 NGX, Author: Artem/Guenter/Michel, Version: 2.0, and Date: Jan 2013.

My VRinsight MCP panel displays light up indicating SPD, HDG, ALT, & VS. Also the COM1 shows up on the com display. I can press any button or knob on the VRI panel but nothing happens.

Also I notice that the Linda console display is constantly running appearing to be in a loop.

It goes from trying to LUA.0: Waiting for an event in "C:\Program ,,,,,,,,,/init.lua to LUA.0: ...t Flight Simulator ......../events.lua:436

It appears that my screen showing the Linda Controls and the VRinsight panel are not communicating. I have checked before and the Comm port always gives me the green light and appears OK.

As I mention before, I tried the VRinsight software and everything worked perfectly. I would prefer to use Linda as I did before with my Saitek panels.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Guys

Working on the VRinsight MCP now. I found that I forgot to change the file names in the Modules/PMDG 737NGX from .default to .lua. Made that change and reran FSX and Linda.

I am now getting the correct Linda settings for the PMDG 737NGX and my VRi module is indicating a lot of the displays. I have the SPD,INFO,HDG,ALT ANd VS. The display changes on the VRi panel but not on the monitor screen.

The COM section and the EFIS all have the correct controls when I depress the buttons or turn the rotaries.

I see the Linda console is stuck in a loop, continuously running. The loop appears to be running in the Flight Simulator X\modules\linda/system/events.lua: XXX area. XXX being a numeric value IE: 428.

It apprears that I am close to getting this running but not sure what is causing the last part of the problem.

  Hope Someone can help.

Thx,  Tom

Hi Guys

I found that I forgot to rename the .default files to .lua files in the  modules/linda-cfg/aircrafts/PMDG 737NGX directory.

I made changes and now the VRi Panel is working. The diplays indicate SPD,HDG,ALT,VS and the COM and EFIS work when you depress the keys or rotary knobs.

The correct Linda settings for the PMDG 737NGX now come up and match my VRi panel.

The only thing that is not working now is that you can set all the setting on the VRI panel but nothing happens on the monitor screen in the cockpit. I notice the the Linda console is stuck in a loop and is continuously running as I previously mention in my last post. It goes from "waiting for an event..." to "Timer evernt: calling "hidpoll" ...". I noticed in the FSUIPC4.log that it also appears to be stuck in a loop.

Looks like getting close. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
