August 29, 201411 yr For me..Unlimited gives me the smoothest result. I use Nvidia Inspector...but found the locked at 30 caused more stutters
August 29, 201411 yr It's the line 'ForceFullScreenVSync=1' that locks it to your monitor frequency. I think it also needs to be set in the nvidia control panel 'Vsync:On'. My monitor is at 60hz so that's what it locks to. So I get a smooth 60 fps. You can check it by pressing ctrl-z twice and the fps is shown in the top left of FSX. This will only apply if you're in full screen mode by the way (alt-enter) At medium sized airports I still get 60 most of the time, but I have MyTraffic installed with the traffic sliders around 30%. With default traffic AI I think I had the sliders slightly lower. And autogen is set to normal on mine. But these are limited by CPU. All my graphics settings are at max (apart from clouds) Thats not what ForcefullScreenVSync does. It does help with tearing, but has nothing to do with locking fps. That line really has only helped people with ATI GPU's. See this thread. http://forum.avsim.net/topic/283143-fsx-vsync-fix/ Freeware developer Pompeii, Italy and Mount Vesuvius (pompeii_italy.zip) and A380 Flight plans (ai_a380_flightplans_redux.zip).

See this thread. http://forum.avsim.net/topic/283143-fsx-vsync-fix/ Well I just tried taking it out now as a test and I get 95 fps with tearing. Put it back in and I get 60 fps with no tearing. I have a GTX 760. Works for me.
August 29, 201411 yr Some weeks ago I gave up tweaking FPS, Vsync, bufferpools, affinity masks and the other usual suspects. On that very day FSPS Fiber Accelerator was launched. It helped me very much to get rid of stutters in complex scenarios. There is a demo you may try. Different users report different results though, but for me I can say it did quite some kind of miracles... Claus KUEPPER
August 30, 201411 yr Author Thank you so much to all of you for your replies.. Let me get this right, My monitor is 60hz, so i should try and acheive 60fps in the sim? to do this i should set FPS to unlimited but use that Force Vsync line in the Graphics section of the CFG, do i need to do anything else? What about the Vsync option in Nvidea inspector Kind Regards, Jack Dutton
August 30, 201411 yr Commercial Member Here the result of flying near the ground maxed out settings, FTX Global, Vector, LC, B1900D, 1920x1200,[email protected],GTX680, extreme NI AA settings. Fixed 15fps in fullscreen with vsync 1/4 refresh looks smoothest, with forced vsync on looks grainy, requires 20fps at least. Set the simulator up and get a reading of mean fps that you need, then fix around that value. Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com
August 30, 201411 yr definitely unlimited fps. I fly steam gauge aircraft, from warbirds to 2nd generation jets, many of them are freeware (like Ivan Jurcaga's Fishbed). So I can have most the sliders, except clouds, and traffic, all the way to the right with constant 26-37 fps. Ah, and DX10 Gorky Max
