Hi am having a problem with the said file ,its always running high cpu in Task Manager when i have Prepar3D on my system, even when P3D is closed i still get high cpu, when i remove P3D off my computer everything is back to normal, hope somebody can help because this is so ffinngg annoying,Windows 8.1 is the OS.thank you

Scan your Hard Disks with a suitable Anti-virus -Program

ALPER S.

That's a Windows host process running.

If you want to know more about it then you should look with the task master and right click the column text and chose command line too. Now you can see what rundll is running for.

This rundll.dll can be running for many different tasks.

I guess for you it will be the "Update SoftwareInventory" too as for me and all the Windows user. Nothing to worry about but you can kill the task with Task Manager and it will run again later.

It's the annoying Microsoft Application Experience/Customer Experience Improvement Program. It's only supposed to run when the system is idle, but there's a bug in Windows 8 and it runs endlessly, often consuming large amounts of CPU time. See this thread:

http://www.prepar3d.com/forum-5/?mingleforumaction=viewtopic&t=8050.1

As I wrote in the Preapr3D Forum thread:

I had this problem also (Win8.1 and P3D - however can' say for sure if it's tied to P3D, don't think so)

I've read somewhere that Win 8 Pro and NVIDIA drivers cause that problem (don't know if there'S a solution now)
I have removed the aeinv.dll from the systems32 folder.
My system is running since several months now without any errors or disadvantages.

I had this exact problem also. It is not a virus, because I set up Win8 twice freshly because of this and had this error.

It has nothing to do with P3D, because it starts also without P3D runnin or even installed.

My solution to remove aeinv.dll works now since several months and I can't see any problems doing that.

Sorry to bump an old thread but I am having this problem now with windows 10. When I try to remove this file from system 32 folder it says I dont have permission even though I have UAC turned off. Can you provide any details as to how you removed this? Thanks.

I'm also running Win 10 now, but I haven't seen this happening (yet). As I remember, in Win 8.1, one had to go into the Task Scheduler and stop all of the Application Experience tasks from automatically running. You might be able to find out how to do this on Win 10 by using Google.

Ill give that a try, thanks for replying. Im not certain this is my problem but I figured it was worth a try after a google search. I haven quite figured out how to track down these crash to desktop problems yet. When I opened appcrash view I had this rundll32 error a number of times .

Hello,

you have to get the full ownership of that file:

http://www.askvg.com/guide-how-to-take-ownership-permission-of-a-file-or-folder-manually-in-windows/

Interesting as you have brought this up:

this issue is gone here since a while.

I had it over years with win 8.1 and also with early win10 betas. But it is gone now it seems with the release version (and a complete new install)

I hope the issue won't come back

I am having the same trouble with that file in Win 7. But it's not the windows file itself, but the dll files it tries to run. I had a closer and deeper look at the problem, and while I couldn't get complete rid of it (or all the faulting dll's), closing the process via process manager or performance monitor (task manager), solves the problem for me completely without any negative consequences.

It doesn't appear on every boot of FSX or P3D, but If it does, ending the process brings back the smoothness.

Thanks. Im not sure this is my problem but I figured it was worth a try.  Maybe one of you that knows what your looking for can make something of this... Fresh install of windows 10 and P3D really has never ran better for me I just cant seem to find the problem that is causing CTD. I have this same error 11 times in appcrashview.
