October 17, 201411 yr Sounds like it might be my brother Steve. He's a little younger than me. Of course, with a last name of 'Young', how can I ever get old? @Vernon: Hey Vernon! You're finally showing your face! That's always dangerous you know. Did you photo shop your picture too? LOL! Best regards, Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! April 3, 201610 yr Try this In File Explorer go to the folder: C:\Users\<you>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX Rename dll.xml to dll.xml.org Go to the folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Flights\other Right-click on FLTSIM.FLT and choose Open with FSX. Hey, this worked for me with a similar problem I just had with FSX-SE not starting up, after I had a crash last night for some unknown reason. Now, how does that dll.xml being renamed to dll.org affect FSX-SE, because it does not rebuild it?! Actually, it still crashes on reload. So what do I need to do?! **Nevermind: I was in Offline mode through steam. I went to Online, and it loaded?!** Bruce Wood
April 4, 201610 yr Commercial Member dll.xml starts exe addons as the sim starts, so renaming it means those exe addons don't start with the sim. That enables you to see if any exe's starting with the sim cause trouble. Change the name back if no differences encountered. If a difference in the operation is encountered those exe addons or their settings need inspection. Sometimes steam edition FSX-SE won't run properly unless it's been started once from the steam menu, then should work OK after that. Steve Waite: Engineer at codelegend.com
April 4, 201610 yr Well, it did it a second time in Offline mode, so I had to restart it again in Online mode, then go back to Offline mode and it worked again; kind of dumb, but at least it worked. Bruce Wood
