October 30, 201411 yr Makes for some very tricky landings with the Icon. I found Obvious Coronet4 sitting at the bottom of the deepest gorge lake. Steve Location, have fun! Try landing in the really deep gorge lake.
October 30, 201411 yr Very cool. I'll have to venture over there and have a look. Thanks, Steve. Thank you. Rick $Silver Donor EAA 1317610 I7-7700K @ 4.5ghz, MSI Z270 Gaming MB, 32gb 3200, Geforce RTX2080 Super O/C, 28" Samsung 4k Monitor, Various SSD, HD, and peripherals
October 30, 201411 yr Don't get stranded this time! ... Jack you might need to get into your SAR Icon Livery... Kavinda J.D ^_^
October 31, 201411 yr I decided to look the area over for myself. These are the SS I took. I parked at the edge and exited the aircraft. The location on the map. Next I’m going over the edge, If you do not hear from me, send a rescue party. J. R.
October 31, 201411 yr Nice Screenshots Jack! I really ought to have a go! ^_^ I see that you are taking photos of your computer screen to get a screenshot of the map...cut the hassle and get FRAPS. Its really easy to use and can record anything. Kavinda J.D ^_^
October 31, 201411 yr Took on the challenge ... Very difficult indeed. Even harder without the HUD! Found myself stalling quite a lot when climbing out. Quite a challenge, if you haven't had a try, you should. Found the gorge, now going down .... Daylight fading .... Spiralling down, very quickly. A very uncomfortable touchdown. Views from the bottom: Now how to get out? Kavinda J.D ^_^
October 31, 201411 yr Author Very nice screen shot set. Yes you need a really tight spiral on the way down to touch down. Took me many attempts. I also walked or fell down, that was really weird trying to climb out again through all the strange artifacts. Steve
November 1, 201411 yr As I started over the edge my altitude was 2618 ft. My descent to the lake. This was my second attempt at landing; I was not paying attention to my airspeed and stalled it into the drink “pilot error”. Altitude reading 0 ft. I parked it on shore, exited the plane to look over the side. How is this for an interesting shot? B) The climb out, found this first one humorous. Back on top. A look back. J. R.
November 1, 201411 yr Great shots Jack!Getting out of a 2618 ft deep gorge certainly deserves recognition! Must be one of those "daredevil" Pilots... Steve - Thanks for finding this location. I'll document it (crediting you of course), and hopefully it could be made an Aerocache one day... making sure that you have to physically land the aircraft on the lake! It'll make a great challenge indeed! All the best, Kavinda Kavinda J.D ^_^
November 1, 201411 yr @ Air1 Thanks Steve! Hanging in there. @ KavindaJD Thank you for the recommendation in P #6 I'll take a look at it. And a very good day to all! B) J. R.
November 1, 201411 yr That looks like a job for a helicopter - I wonder if they were ever planned for Flight...? Andreas My first plane: Der kleine Uhu. Motto: Runter kommen sie immer. B)
November 1, 201411 yr That looks like a job for a helicopter - I wonder if they were ever planned for Flight...? I think they did ... but never got round to it. There's a message about helicopters when you load up a new flight. @ Jack - Good to hear that you are doing well! I wouldn't be surprised to find you flying around in Flight, during treatment! All the best and keep going! Kavinda J.D ^_^
