April 25, 200521 yr I agree, when addons are priced at 50 60 70 dollars, thats a bit much IMO.If planes start going for 75 or 80, i dont know what to think other than the developer can be a little greedy.Yes, their time that they dedicate is worth money. But when you get a plane that lets say, 5000+ people download within a few months and pay 40$ or so, minus all the charges, and after you devide the profit up inbetween the developers, thats still a hefty profit made just for one person. April 25, 200521 yr >I repect your opinion, however, we're talking about a game.Certainly something like PMDG 737 is **NOT** a game. So no, we are NOT talking about a game. Real "games" are sold in tens, hundred of thousands in the mass market and every gaming magazine (there is more than one) writes about them. Try to find anything about the PMDG 737 or Aeroworx's King Air or LDS's 767 in a gaming periodical. Simulation market is well diversfied - Abbacus' products may be considered 'games' if you want (and the $9.95 price reflects it) but the other extreme end of this market is far from a notion of the game.Michael J.WinXP-Home SP2,AMD64 3500+,Abit AV8,Radeon X800Pro,36GB Raptor,1GB PC3200,Audigy 2 Michael J.
April 25, 200521 yr michal, have you ever dealt with a virus? I just got one.. dont know how, but norton cant pick it up.. Dont know what to do. thought id see if you had a solution.FS doesnt come under a game catagory. Im not shure where it comes under. But ill say one thing, it is a very expensive hobby. Chase Barnett
April 25, 200521 yr Excellent Idea...so far so good, no attacks or name-calling!My opinion and hope is $49.99 or less for all three types standard, domestic and freighter.Since the virtual and exterior model look somewhat complete, I would predict for an August or sooner release...remember FS10 will probably be out by October or November. Maybe some new information or press release will be forthcoming at E3 next month in Los Angeles.
April 26, 200521 yr Chase, Check your email, I just sent you one that you might want to look at.Best Regards,Philip Olsonhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/supporter.jpg
April 26, 200521 yr I'm not going to get into the game vs sim argument, as far as I am concerned it is a $50 game just like any other game I have, and PMDG is excelent and I really like the B1900c/d so if they carge $40 or less I'm fine with it, but more then that is just too much.
April 26, 200521 yr Yes, its market driven. This product has taken a long time to create and the price will reflect that along with the complexity. I, for one, do not care about a virtual cockpit some do. Does that mean I would not buy it. No chance!!!It will be ready when it is ready and sell for $49.95 or perhaps $59.95. Do you spend more time with that memory stick or that DVD drive or flying an aircraft in flight Simulator? When I divide the time by the dollars spent, these products are a bargain. A decent dinner out for our small family of three costs me at least $75 with the tip and often more. That meal is gone within 12 hours or so.You can be totally price driven and buy cheap payware or use some of the great freeware. The real truth is you do get what you pay for, although, some of the freeware developers do fantastic work. They do not have the time and resources to develop a great aircraft like PMDG, LDS and Dreamfleet.I am sure the price will be fair but do not expect it to be cheap.
April 26, 200521 yr lol.. Try fourwheelers.. :)But i gotta argue that, FS can be expensive if you have no self control with visa's. Go to flight1.com with a visa and have no self control.Last time i did that, i said i was only going to buy the LDS, *which btw, is one of the best addons ever seen* and i bought the lds.. yes i did.. Chase was happy that he bought it. :-lolChase got angry wit him self when he spent nearly 70 total cause a had no self control when i saw the DF/F1 A36. BTW, its also highly reccomended.LOL, but yes, FS can be dont strictly by freeware, or you can start to catch up with the payware. Just depends on you, your self control and preference i guess...:-lol Chase Barnett
April 26, 200521 yr >A decent dinner out for our small family of three>costs me at least $75 with the tip and often more. That meal>is gone within 12 hours or so.>So you'd rather buy an addon for yourself rather than taking your family out for a nice dinner? How selfish of you! ;-)My guess is something like $60-70. Doesn't Ariane sell their NG for nearly a $90? And you have high end scenery addons like Switzerland Pro, people boy that, and a 747 from the famous PMDG certainly has a much wider appeal.-
April 26, 200521 yr i cant imagine buying that ariane for that price when you can get the pmdg 737 6/7/8/900 for less. And for 3 people to eat for 75$, your right, that must be a VERY descent dinner.../ :-lol Chase Barnett
April 26, 200521 yr You have an interesting point Michael. Let me add the following though: Abbacus is the only FS vendor I know of that has been cited in Flying Magazine in an article talking about Flight Simulator...What do you think?
April 26, 200521 yr from personal experience, abacus i think is nothing more than abunch of drunks.. :-lolpersonally, didnt care much.Didnt mean to offend anyone, just joking around. :) Chase Barnett
