Dangers of Discount and Regional Airlines : Frontline Documentary on Flying Cheap

Featured Replies

The title of this thread is "Dangers of Discount and Regional Airlines : Frontline Documentary on Flying Cheap"

Some posters seem to think that discount and regional airlines are dangerous when they are not.

Like I said already, I don't know why 'discount' is part of the thread title. The documentary was about the pressures on the regional subcontractors being placed by the legacies. Discount carriers like Southwest, Jetblue, etc don't subcontract out to regionals and have little to do with this documentary. To say discount airlines caused this crash is to say competition and deregulation caused it. Which I suppose you can make a general case for.

But more specifically, during the period being documented, there were specific causes and effects going on in the US and particularly Continental, that was causing a sharp decline in safety that resulted in an accident that was expected by industry insiders.

I'm afraid your agenda is still showing.

As is yours.  People are making points and attempting to support them.  It's called having a discussion.  "Agenda" suggests there's something nefarious going on.  There isn't.  Conversation as usual.
