Golden standard for aircraft add on's .....

Featured Replies

Hi Rob,With all respect - with the SF260 download I got a 19 page "Flying Guide" and a sufficient "Pilot's Checklist". I do not know if I've misssed something out there. But in my opinion (and I'm the guy setting the "golden standard" in this thread - remember?) I miss some information on the SF260. Some technical information, neccessary distance for take-off and landing etc etc. I think that the need of documentation is very individual, and I'm a guy who loves to read a lot about the "bird" I love to fly. CheersLars....... ;-)

Oren,<>I'm amazed no-one has included this iconic aircraft in their list so let me be the first to do so. The reason it hasn't been included is perhaps not because it isn't a excellent aircraft which it undoubtedly is, but because it's rather harder to fly than a Boeing or Airbus. The panels are state-of-the-art and the flight model is superb. Something particularly difficult to achieve with a delta wing aircraft. It would certainly be in a shortlist of three aircraft in my book. I would also include the PMDG737 and the LDS767 even though I haven't flown the latter yet. However, it's predecessor - the PIC767 was also a gold-star aircraft.Cheers,

Hi Lars,In a small aeroplane like the SF260, "distance" to take off is when the airspeed gets sufficent to pull back the stick. "Distance" to land is when you touch down at beginning of runway and manage to stop before running out of tarmac. There you are: 45 words. Valuable?I think some people think they need a 100 page manual in order to push a throttle forward and pull a stick back. Less could be more.Blog (or PDF on getting up in the morning) "To get out of bed" : 1. Raise eyelids from closed position. 2. Open mouth wide then close. 3. transfer left hand via arm movement to apex of sheet and duvet cover. 4. At approximately 30 degree angle lift and draw back duvet cover exposing body to elements. 5. Raise left leg and move laterally to left at same time. 6. Allow body to follow leg. 7. Raise upper torso. 8.Transfer weight in stages from torso centre of gravity to upper legs. 9. Raise entire body to upright position. 10. Open mouth and emit groaning sound (yawn). 11. Proceed with day.Is this good enough? With good wishes,Kind Regards,Rob Young

Hi again Rob,OK - you (nearly) win this one. I got so tired thinking of all the work i have to do tomorrow morning in order to get out of my bed...:). But all the same I still have to defend my right to be one of those crazy "simmers" who loves to read about their dear beloved aircrafts. You know technical stuff and alike. I appriciate your great skills concerning the flight dynamics... Cheers old chapLars :-halo

Usually more info that you could ever want. L.Adamson

RealAir SF-260 - Amazing aircraft, can't wait for the update.I agree with all your other choices, but I would add SSTSIM Concorde to that list. My favourite airliner in FS:D Can't wait for SU3:9

Oh Rob, you left out 1. Proceed to the head 2. Proceed to the 'fridge for orange juice.....etc.You'll never make the "Gold Standard" like this:-lol :-lol

Hello Ron and Rob,First of all thanks for all your hard work on your excellent products.I've been an old fan of Flight Simulation software since I first put my hands on FS 3.0 or something like that, back in the late 80s, but I've been away from it over the past few years. Now that I'm back I am truly amazed at the products you and the good folks at the other companies mentioned here launched over these few years (and some companies that may not have been mentioned here yet but probably should).I must say that my interest in FS now has become much more "professional" than recreational, hence my appreciation for the products I particularly mentioned in helping me get ready for a next step on my career. I believe more and more professional pilots will turn to FS and some of these products as procedural trainers for actual aircraft, as preparation for routes we haven't flown yet, and pure and simply to go "fly" virtually over some landscape we plan to visit in the future. The realism you've been able to attain has changed what some considered a "game" into a real valuable tool, for which once again we truly thank all of you !And keep us posted on what's next.
