HiI have to agree with Ron. I used most of the freeware options prior to the release of FE. I am thankful for, and truly appreciate the efforts of the freeware developers. They all are very talented. That being said, I have grown weary of always moving files around, mixing, and matching textures. It is nice to just hit a button, have everything done for you, and still look absolutely stunning.Again, I do not want anybody to construe anything I said as a slight to anybody. I am in awe of all of the talented people (payware and freeware) who make FS so great. I tried and failed. Unfortunately, I am not an artist. You have all made a 50 dollar simulator......priceless. :-beerchug

Yes FE is great, but I miss my red water when the sun is low. Guess it's implemented in the update?

Rune B.

RE: a more red water request?I'll see if we can do something as long as it looks convincing. I don't like cartoon looks but from time to time a user can help us to get improved looks.I did have some much redder reflection sets but the testers all thought it was a littlel too red?We aim to please but we also have to try and get it realistic and convincing.I should point out that some of the sun sets and reflection sets are a little more colourful than ohthers. I'll see if we can get at least one of the sets a little more biased toowards a more red water colour so long as it looks true to life.Peter

Peter,Thanks for making what looks and sounds like an AWESOME product. Don't worry about saying "thanks," to your customers. Actually, your positive interaction, right here on this string is a major part of why I'm going to buy your product. Keep up the good. . .no. . .let's make that GREAT work!Gary Hawk

<Why would anyone be insulted at the inference of being a beta tester?Actually, that work suggests quite a bit of competence. The issue, which is perfectly valid, is how objective people close to any project can be. Note well, that people can be biased without being dishonest. And the issue goes beyond "beta testers" to include people who are paid to perform marketing services and friends/family/business acquaintences etc. who can and OFTEN DO post in these forums in connection with new product introductions. This thread was stared by a very "low time" poster and fully one quarter of the posters (excluding your responses) have very few posts in their histories.Statistically, that is WAY off the charts and utterly justifies comments questioning the objectivity some of the posts. You MUST know Peter, that such "marketing tactics" are commonplace in this industry and you might not be well advised to be too cranky with those who make an issue about an unusually high percentage of strong reviews from low time posters. You have a FINE product. I bought it. I use it.Regards,Jim

Peter,Are you looking at a more dark sky option possibly? Just wondering if this is something you were thinking about doing in a possible update down the road. Anyway, great product, FS has never looked better! Thanks all

You make me blush! And thanks again for the positive remarks.Peter

Al, I've made a total black version as per your request a few days ago. It turned out better than I expected. If you want this now just contact me privately and I'll arrange for an update for you so you can beta it.Peter

You have all made>a 50 dollar simulator......priceless. :-beerchug I have to agree with this as well. The freeware options are great but they are usually messy installs and require constant tuning. Installing FE was a snap. Afterwards everything is presented very nicely and clearly in a neat looking configuration screen. From time of purchase to installation it literally takes about 5 minutes to get it running and see instant gratification without the headaches.

>This thread was stared by a very "low time" poster and fully>one quarter of the posters (excluding your responses) have>very few posts in their histories. You know, I would venture to say many people (much like myself) don't post here often simply becuase of comments like this when we do post. Just because someone may not have a high "post count" doesn't mean their thoughts or opinions are invalid. I don't mean to come down on you specifically, I've seen many others here comment about one's "post count". I'm just a little tired of that. I think you would find more people offering help, sharing ideas, or expressing their thought more often if their credibility wasn't judged simply based on how many posts they have.Just my thoughtsJim

<> And they are appreciated. No one was "coming down" on any particular poster. And I am genuinely sorry that you are tired of comments about low post count posters. But whether you are tired or perky, a fact remains that is pointless to argue about...which is, SOME developers...NOT ALL DEVELOPERS...either specificillay egage "marketing consultants" to assist in gaining awareness and a positive vibe for their products. Not a single thing wrong with that. In fact, developers who do not acquire such help probably should. But whether the developers ask for the service or not, it is OFTEN true, that posts appear on these forums by newly registered posters...sometimes paid marketing consultants and sometimes just "friends" of the developers...who make "biased" posts.NOTE WELL...the posts might be TRUE...and still be BIASED.It is perfectly acceptable IMHO for skepticism to be expressed...especially when a low time poster STARTS a thread and then a significant percentage of low time posters continue on with it.Just pick threads at random as see how many posts there are from people with less than 50 posts in their history. No big deal. We are mostly grown ups here, wise in the ways of the world and no one should take offense just because they don't have a large post history unless THEIR SPECIFIC post is called into question.Regards,JimPS: Yet again, I OWN FE and LIKE IT!(:

<>Your remark is obviously a "payware is better than freeware" comment. Your use of the word "usually" is unfortunate since it is untrue with respect to most of the widely used freeware applications and is an unfortunate swipe at the freeware community IMHO.Regards,Jim

I definitely hold the freeware community in high regards and appreciate all of their efforts.
