May 15, 200521 yr Thanks for your interest Jack.Nothing to worry about as FE will install the package and back up eveything before the install is done. If for any reason you don't like it you can un-install and get back to where you were.Just download the program and then install and you will be up and running within minutes and it's as simple as A, B CThere is nothing in particular you have to do. The last thing we want is potential or existing customers worrying. Please rest assured it's very easy to install the package and to understand how to use it.Peter
May 15, 200521 yr > The freeware options are great > but they are usually messy installs and require constant tuning. Many may not be aware, that when you use the word -but- it negates all you said prior to useing it.... Then, what you add after, can make others feel as if you really do not mean what you said first. Especially when you used the words which followed. Many who create freeware, have problems making things clear in english, which is their second language. Even those who learned it in school, (including myself) can find it difficult to say they wish to say, clearly. So I give them the benfit of trying to understand what they were trying to say.It depends on our experience with the flight sim how well we can do that. If one finds it messy to install, it can be because someone doesnt have enough experience to understand. Ive used the sim since the earliest days, and have -no- problems ever with any install. AND have -never- found that they require constant "tuning." Once installed, if good enough to leave on the system, I never have to do anything with them.... There are help files her an on http://flightsim.com which go into great detail about how to install various addons... If someone does not have much experience, they can be invaluable. Some "scenery" or "aircraft" can cause problems, but if you stick with those who have "experience" creating them, they never do. It is very understandable that the learning curve for creating some things is VERY STEEP... Some who are just learning, are very excited about what they are doing, so they may upload before doing extensive testing. Others pass them on to half a dozen friends first, to get feedback. If we find stuff from someone who has never created freeware, then I believe it is our responsibility to test it, and report back any problems found. If we don't, and dont want to help the author, then all we need to do, is remove it.... BUT, generally I have found all freeware from experienced people, flawless. The majority from new people close to it, and a huge majority of freeware is flawless.Everything that I have purchased from Payware authors, has been exceptional... Because I dont run right out and by it to have it first. When you get positive feedback for a month or so from users, then I make my decision, and have never been disappointed. The addons I use the most, Bill Lyons Waco, freware, and Eaglesoft Citation X keep me very busy for hours a day. Without them, I'd be bored, but now its great to be retired...With over 30 years experience with software, have always found something which I wished was different. But, that is "personal" opinion the majority of the time, not necessarily a flaw. So long ago gave up expecting any one can be perfect, as I am far from it myself. :-)Generalizations, about anything in life, are generally incorrect.
May 15, 200521 yr >Why would anyone be insulted at the inference of being a beta tester?>Actually, that work suggests quite a bit of competence. Because of what else is said along with it. The implicaton is they are not telling the truth. It bothers most people when they tell the truth, and someone says they are not, for any reason?
