December 21, 201411 yr I have REX Essentials with OD installed, and have been using that for about a week. My next upgrade will be to VOXATC. My question is, does VOXATC play well with REX? RodeoGeorge
December 21, 201411 yr I think it will VOXatc just helps you with ATC so if your using a weather engines(ASN, Opus, etc.) VOXatc should be fine. I use REX for Textures so it shouldnt interfere with VOXATC www.alaskaair-virtual.org,swavirtual.com, Ramp lead @ Phoenix Sky Harbor, Loving the simming and aviation industry <SCRIPT LANGUAGE='JavaScript' SRC='http://www.jetphotos.com/jp_forum_sign.php?photogid=75760' TYPE='text/javascript'></SCRIPT> Alex Kulak
December 21, 201411 yr Author I also use REX4 Textures, and that is not an issue. Since VOXATC interfaces with the weather in determining various actions, my question was does VOXATC utilize the REX Essentials OD weather? I am aware of the destination WX issue that is supposed to be corrected in the new version that is coming out. RodeoGeorge
December 22, 201411 yr Hello Rodeo, Yes if you want it, VoxAtc utilizes the REX Essentials OD weather. I made some flights with VoxAtc and Rex Ess + Od weather. Since the last VoxAtc version (6.49) the destination WX issue seems solved. December 22, 201411 yr Yes, VoxATC will use what ever weather engine you throw at it but there is a caveat. VoxATC *ONLY* reads the weather once at the initialization which is a terrible flaw that needs to be remedied by VoxATC's creator. You will have accurate departure data but arrival is hit or miss if you use a hardcore weather engine like Active Sky NEXT that keeps the weather accurate and up to date constantly. I tune in ATIS through VoxATC and always verify what I am hearing by tuning in to ASN's ATIS. Rarely do the two match up at the arrival point. I sometimes have to turn off VoxATC if the weather data eroded to much. I will always follow ASN weather and thus land on the runways I should be landing on rather than what VoxATC *thinks* I need to land on because of its old weather data. Other than that, VoxATC is my favorite ATC solution. It just needs a little more polish. This is the extent of the fix in the new version, disappointing. Ivan Smith
December 22, 201411 yr "Yes, VoxATC will use what ever weather engine you throw at it but there is a caveat. Which airports (dep/arr) did you fly that showed the ATIS mismatch? Which weather program do you use? Best Regards, Vaughan Martell PP-ASEL KDTW
December 22, 201411 yr Yes, VoxATC will use what ever weather engine you throw at it but there is a caveat. VoxATC *ONLY* reads the weather once at the initialization which is a terrible flaw It is my understanding that correcting this problem was one of the main reasons for the latest update. So far, I,ve been getting the correct approach assignments. Haven't done any long hauls lately though. Rick Hobbs
December 22, 201411 yr VoxATC *ONLY* reads the weather once at the initialization which is a terrible flaw that needs to be remedied by VoxATC's creator. Sorry but not true for me with the last VoxAtc version AND weather REX Ess Od ! I am now assigned by Vox on the right track to the final with headwind. December 22, 201411 yr Author Sorry but not true for me with the last VoxAtc version AND weather REX Ess Od ! I am now assigned by Vox on the right track to the final with headwind. Regards, Richard Portier Thanks to all that responded. I do not normally make long distance flights (500 miles is a long flight for me) and enjoy exploring Arizona from my home base in Chino Valley. I'm looking forward to installing the demo and getting up to speed on VOXATC use. RodeoGeorge
December 22, 201411 yr Hmmmmm... maybe my patch isn't the latest? I use Active Sky NEXT in Live Mode. The last three flights have ended for me not the assumed runway based on the weather briefing. Example; I arrived at KDAL-Dallas Love expect 13L based on the weather brief but VoxATC sets me up for 31R instead and while landing I have a 6 knot tail wind pushing me. VoxATC, Active SKy NEXT and Default ATIS rarely agree on Altimeter settings. They are usually off by .01. I find that if I turn off VoxATC after I reach cruise then turn it on at the start of my approach I get accurate assignments then as it reads the weather currently set. Did I miss something somewhere setting up ASN or VoxATC? It's really a minor thing. To me, the constant handoffs to ARTCC centers is more annoying than mismatched weather. December 22, 201411 yr i got the demo of VOXATC and installed it, i have REX4 and ASn and it did pretty well it just has a glitch in it where it doesnt vector you on to your final. www.alaskaair-virtual.org,swavirtual.com, Ramp lead @ Phoenix Sky Harbor, Loving the simming and aviation industry <SCRIPT LANGUAGE='JavaScript' SRC='http://www.jetphotos.com/jp_forum_sign.php?photogid=75760' TYPE='text/javascript'></SCRIPT> Alex Kulak
December 23, 201411 yr "VoxATC, Active SKy NEXT and Default ATIS rarely agree on Altimeter settings." How do you check default FSX ATIS during your flight? I leave the Default ATC voices on so VoxATC and Default P3D/FSX read back at the same time. December 23, 201411 yr "I leave the Default ATC voices on so VoxATC and Default P3D/FSX read back at the same time." When ASN is running it "takes control" of weather for FSX ... is my understanding. The voices you select and hear in your speaker (sound/voice on/off Option) has nothing to do with it. And the .01 error is nothing to be concerned about either .......... dialing an analog baro gauge is rather approximate anyway. Before departure look at the ASN ATIS report for DEP and ARR Wx. Before arrival Is the ARR Wx given by VOXatc ver 6.49 "about, as expected" or is it way off ... like the same as you DEP Wx, (which would be a big problem). Best Regards, Vaughan Martell PP-ASEL KDTW
