Dimka

Monitor magically stoped working.

Recommended Posts

Hello-

Odd problem this time. Upon starting up my computer a few days ago, my monitor, a ViewSonic VX2245, did not display. The blue light on it indicated that it was connected to the computer, but there was nothing displaying. When I got to the desktop, with a very close look, I could see the wallpaper extremely dim. After restarting the computer many times, it worked magically, but after restarting again, or putting the computer asleep, this happens again. I have uninstalled it and the driver from Device Manager, and reinstalled with latest drivers.

The monitor isn't physically broken because the 1 time that it did go on with full display, there was no cracks or damage to the screen, this is a problem of it being EXTREMLY dim, and using the arrows on the monitor to modify that, are to hard to see. From a foot away, it looks like it if off, but from an inch or two away, you can barley see the desktop.

Thanks-

Sounds like the monitor has failed.

My computer: ABS Gladiator Gaming PC featuring an Intel 10700F CPU, EVGA CLC-240 AIO cooler (dead fans replaced with Noctua fans), Asus Tuf Gaming B460M Plus motherboard, 16GB DDR4-3000 RAM, 1 TB NVMe SSD, EVGA RTX3070 FTW3 video card, dead EVGA 750 watt power supply replaced with Antec 900 watt PSU.

Might sound silly but is the connection at the back of monitor making a FULL connection,   Have a peep,  some bent damaged pins?

If you can see things being displayed but extremely dim, it means that the monitor is still working but the backlighting has probably failed.

Pins are all fine. I have tried it on another computer and it is still dim. Ill see if I can find a fix for the dim back lighting.

With today's flat screen monitors and tv's, the fix is usually replacement unless it is still in warranty.
