May 30, 200521 yr It's not from not having enough RAM. If you get 2G of ram, the back half of it will just sit there waiting for something to do . . . June 1, 200521 yr >>I think he's trying to sell you another 1 gig of ram . .>>.make him put it into writing and take it back if it doesn't>>work.>>Good idea. Gonna do just that...I can confirm that RAM doesn't do the trick. I have 2GB (mainly for other programs that I run) and still get stutters. If I run something else like Call Of Duty it's smooth as silk. Not bashing the MSFS programming team, but something does seem amiss or not taking advantage of some part of MOST of our systems. I realize some out there have no stutters at all so I can safely say it is our system setup not a bug in the MSFS program or anything, just drives me crazy every now and then. One thing I noticed that helps A LOT is turning down your texture size to MEDIUM (do not use Maxmimum or MASSIVE setting).
June 1, 200521 yr I learned this weekend that starting up the engines automatically causes stutters when control-E is used. After each time I CTRL-E during a FS2004 session the stutters become more pronounced. I tried to switch planes, save flight and resume, and even end flight and start a new one at the menu but nothing works to fix the stutters once you have gotten them from CTRL-E. Only restarting the sim would clear the stutter problem. These stutters would occurs about once every 2 seconds in every phase of flight. Starting the engines manually does not cause the stutter problem.Basically what I was doing was fly to an airport, stop the engines, start them back up CTRL-E, fly somewhere else and repeat. After each stop the stutter got worse and worse. It seems to occur with all different kinds of aircraft. Is this a bug that is known about? Would anyone else like to try to replicate on their system?
June 2, 200521 yr Hi,For many years I had no problems with stuttering in FS. Then it started. Man, was it bad. I like you tried all sorts of solutions, all to no avail. Then I thought about any resent changes I had made to the Sim. There was one, Airport Environment Upgrade 7 by ChrisArrington. At first I rejected the idea as I was getting stuttering when flying well away from any Airport. Anyway I unistalled the files and the problem was solved. This is not meant as a criticism of Chris's work. Just a problem on my machine I guess. Thought I add my thoughts to the mix as I know what its like trying to overcome what seems an insurmountable problem.Cheers for now
