Payware Airbus - Any Suggestions ?

Featured Replies

I would like to purchase software for an Airbus.I have read reviews regarding:1. A 320 Pilot in Command by Aerosoft2. A340 Professional by Just FlightBoth were bad reviews.Aerosoft now has available for download "LTU 2005" for Airbus A330-320-321. Does anyone have any experience with this software?Any suggestions for a good Airbus payware would be appreciated.Thank you.StannerStanner

Pros:Fairly accurate modelFairly nice vcGreat features on the panelGreat soundsPretty comprehensive avionicsLots of liveries with a paint kit possiblePrice (2 Models at $11 each plus liveries ain't bad these days)Cons:Textures are a let-downSeam around aft fuselageContact point problemUgly panelModeled cabin so external view takes an fps hitThis product is targeted at those who don't have time/desire for a big learning curve. I haven't taken a real anal look at it yet, but my overall impression was that this is a great concept, but fell a little short in the execution. Still, if I can spruce up the textures, I'll be pretty happy for now. The best way to get a feel for it is to download the manual on Aerosoft's website. Hope this has been helpful.Todd

It doesn't look that good to meOn the website - the external model looks very inaccurate from the screenshots shown.

You should check out the PSS (Phoenix Simulation Software site). All their Airbuses are on special offer..half price. I recently bought the A330 and A340 and am pleased with them. #### good prices too!

I use iFDG airbuses with Ken Mitchell's A320 panel and for sound, 'A320 - The Real Deal', to me, thats as good as payware, its just a really good all round package once everythings in place. Theres also many many different liveries.

I bought the PSS A330/A340 about 1/2 year ago as boxed version. I still think it's the best airbus addon you can get.I'll give it a 8 of 10 rating. ;)

I have the PSS airbusses in both A319/20/21 and A340, download versions which I beleive are the same as Justflight, but may be cheaper if you're dealing with taxes or duties, I'm happy with both.Any "authentic" airbus or recent Boeing has a learning curve. It depends on whether you want eye candy or "as real as it gets".Ron

I have PMDG 737 -600/700 and find it to be the best sim I have ever had. It does have a somewhat steep learning curve. It also has eye candy. The best of both worlds. Ron, you should check it out. I was hoping for an Airbus more or less in the same league. The Just Flight product was given a lousy review by PC Aviator magazine. I will have to wait to see what may come along. Thanks to all who replied.Stanner

Hi StannerI feel I must comment on the lousy review of the Justflight Airbus. If it is the same as the PSS Airbuses, and I don't actually know this is true, there is no way that lousy can be levelled at these packages. There are Avsim reviews of the PSS Airbuses. Have a look. They may not be quite in the PMDG league, (I have their Boeings) but they are a very satisfying package with a considerable 'learning curve' to negotiate for anyone not familiar with Airbus flight preparation. I wouldn't for instance recommend them to anyone who is only, as yet able to handle default based airliners.

The PSS A320 series are considerably older models than the PMDG ones, so it's not really 100% fair to do direct comparisons between the two without mentioning that. Even then, though, I have and still use both sets of aircraft. I also have A320PIC, but that I don't go near any more.To keep up the fairness, I was a beta tester on the PSS Concorde, but wasn't in any way involved with the A320 project.Ian P.

I've had all the PSS buses for a while now, but now merge the PSS panel with IFDG models and for me, it's probably as good as things get right now.

The PSS A320 series is really the best choice in my opinion. Coupled with the IFDG models they make an excellent package. As for the PSS A330 my only complaint is the Landing Light was modeled to the Landing gear handle. So putting up the gear shuts off the Landing Lights ans screws with the texturing on non PSS models. I really wish they could untie the landing light command from the gear in a fix for the FS2004 version. Sniff... It makes the Flightcraft A330 go all funky. Nick Preston :-abduct

I agree with the PSS-iFDG merge. Even then, it's not in the same class as the DF727, PMDG737, RFP742 etc. Surprising that with all of the options there are none of them that really stand out. You'd think there would be a market for a really good one. billg

I am not a real Airbus fan, by any means. But when I saw the PSS sale ad, I went to their site just to get the Dash 8, and ended up getting the A340, too. It is the best ten bucks I have spent in flight sim. I feel that it is good to learn about all the different types of systems and the different approaches to flying presented by the different companies. Airbus is a very interesting and effective alternative, whether you prefer them or not. The A340 by PSS is an excellent look into the Airbus world.
