February 22, 201511 yr PMDG 777 is a huge resource hog with Virtual Cockpit enabled. I double my FPS by not using virtual cockpit. Typically I use virtual cockpit when I'm not moving, and disable virtual cockpit when I'm reading to move.
February 22, 201511 yr can someone tell me what the best setting thrue Nvidia control Panel for P3d 2.5 plz?
February 23, 201511 yr can someone tell me what the best setting thrue Nvidia control Panel for P3d 2.5 plz? I wish you would start a new topic with this excellent question. Right now we are talking about bad performance in P3DV2.5 and you are asking something completely separate from this issue. Thanks. February 23, 201511 yr I think its best to wait 2 months after an update to P3D is released before upgrading to it. Gives a buffer time for developers to play catch up. February 27, 201511 yr Hello folks. I too have this performance problem with P3D v2.5 and it is quite frustrating for the level of investment I have made in my setup. I have quite a few addons installed (including payware aircraft only) that after tons of research, were advertised to work flawlessly together. I have ASN, REX4 with SoftClouds, FTXG + Vector , UTX USA v2.0, and recently just bought Xtreme Cities USA SC. Now I know that the combination of all these would definitely impact the system to some degree so I do not run them all ON and on full specs. I only fly in the USA so FTX Vector is almost completely disabled as UTX USA already adds vector data to that area. I have quite a few options turned off in UTX USA as well, including several roads and lighting (which failed to install in the first place!). In ASN and REX, I have minimalistic settings across the board to provide just enough eye candy but not too much to suffer the system. Xtreme Cities USA SC is only active when I fly in the included cities (at default settings with TexturePhoto option). My system specs are: Windows 7 64bit i5-2500K OC @ 4.2GHz stable 16GB Corsair vengence RAM @ >1800MHz Poseidon GTX 780 with 3GB memory, OC'd Samsung EVO 500GB SSD Tripple Screen Setup @ 3840x700 res. (5760x1080 seems to have no effect on frames. How is this possible???) Fully water cooled rig. My system has been historically performing very well in p3d v2.4 as well v2.5 at the beginning. Now, I'm seeing 3, 6, 10, 15 FPS and no more! This is unacceptable! Mind you I have settings files that I spent hours on-end defining to better work for specific areas and I load them accordingly. I have city city settings (with low/high FPS option) as well as bush flying settings (also low/high fps) and these settings have usually given good frames averaging @35 FPS. When all these bad performance issues started, I have since deactivated things in the scenery library, like areas I never fly in and such. I have not made any library position changes though as everything seems to know where to go. But still nothing. No matter what settings I choose now, even with just bare default p3d v2.5, my frame rates cannot go above 15. Its like they are hitting a hard limit somewhere and stuttering is everywhere. My texture loader seems to be having issues too. I'm trying by all means to not have to re-install everything! And I do not fly looking dead ahead. I have TrackIR and I enjoy VFR low and slow flights. So such low FPS are completely unacceptable and make my sim unplayable. Now all I'm doing is findling around in the settings instead of actually flying! Any suggestions please??? Thank you.
February 27, 201511 yr You and I have similar PC specs… With that said, my main stuttering issue was due to addon aircraft. I can get 30+ fps and a smooth stutter free experience with default aircraft and max settings, even with FTX Global, Vector and REX. I put in a GTX 970 (from another gaming machine) to replace my GTX 670 and the performance remained the same…bad stutters with payware aircraft and smooth performance with default aircraft. No amount of slider adjustment and tweaks changed the fact that “P3D performs perfect with default aircraft” (with no glass cockpit) and performs horrible with more complicated aircraft. I would imagine that PMDG aircraft would stress P3D into bad performance much like my Carenado SR22 does. So what are devs doing to optimize the performance of payware (more complicated) aircraft within P3D? Does the internal architecture within P3D allow for seamless integration with more complicated aircraft? I am not sure where either side could start with a solution, but I am convinced that no CPU, GPU, cfg, or tweak can overcome the flaw that exists within running complicated aircraft within P3D. Well said and I fully agree. Default aircrafts performs super smooth, but the pmdg 777 is horrible stuttering mess. The stuttering kills the immersion. I have tried all kinds of graphics setting, but dialing down does not seem to improve the performance significantly. And I got the 4790K and a GTX780, so I would say decent hardware. In FSX SE the 777 is smooth as butter.
