P3D 2.5 crashed on landing! OOM!

At the moment I don't have any FTX products loaded in P3D2.5 as we wait for the fix.. I have textures at 4096 and all sliders to the right and | don't have any OOMS in England. Granted, I'm flying the Iris Battlefield Airlifter which, whilst not overly complex, is a lot of fun. I don't have any stutters and am enjoying flying for the first time in a long time.

You guys simply have to check your settings. Yesterday, I did a flight from Aerosoft's Heathrow Extended (which is a VAS nightmare) in the PMDG 777 to Taxi2Gate Istanbul. No OOM. Landed with 500 Mb of free VAS. In addition to the airports I used FTX Global, FTX Vector and openLC Europe. This is with reasonable settings. All sliders to the right definitely doesn't work.

 Both of the OP's mentioned crashes here were not OOM's though. The thread has gone in 3 different directions, 2 of which aren't related to his issue.

That's a Microsoft Visual C++2010 faulting module and anytime you get a Microsoft.net or Microsoft Visual C++ error, you should run the Microsoft.net Repair Tool to make sure your installation was done properly.  Microsoft Visuals are used by developers to make sure the application(s) are installed properly.  I had an error like yours once (for FSX) and ran the repair tool and the problem (CTD) went away.  I know P3D and PMDG uses Microsoft Visual C++2010.

It's funny tough because I have Visual Studio and I should have all libraries and no issue, will run this Repair Tool and check.

 

About England ORBX, for me EGLL is insane! Any place else I get ~40fps just go to EGLL it drops to ~15fps! I don't know what ORBX did there, but feels like a black whole for memory haha

Take your textures back to 1024x1024. Seriously.

 

This is exactly what I thought when I read that comment about 4096 textures. None of my textures are any larger than 1024, and I don't intend to change that.

 

 

I got to be honest guys, these OOM's have me pretty well fed up myself.  I attempted a Q400 flight out of default EGLL to EGJJ the other night, running only Orbx England, and never made it to the runway before an OOM. Luckily I saved my flight and flightplan, managed to take off and made it over the channel, then OOM. Running only 1024 textures here. EGLL is impossible, even at default.

 

That's ridiculous. I completed a test flight from FTX EGHI Southampton to EGLL London Heathrow the other night in the Quality Wings Avro RJ70 without suffering an OOM (well, it did finally run out of available memory when I switched to Top Down view after shutting down, and then  zoomed out). Nevertheless, this was with the following settings and addons.....

 

MSAA @ 8 samples

16x AF

2x SGSS in Nvidia Inspector

8xS AA in Nvidia Inspector

1024x1024 textures

LOD Radius and Tessellation Factor set to HIGH

Water set to ULTRA

All other settings (including Autogen and Scenery Complexity) FULL RIGHT

REX Essential Plus SP3 (clear skies)

PlayHorizon VFR GenX photoscenery Volumes 1 and 2

ORBx FTX EGHI Southampton

Aerosoft EGLL Heathrow Extended

UK2000 Xtreme Airports (all of them apart from Heathrow; Gatwick @ GoXtreme mode)

UK2000 VFR Airfields (all three volumes)

ES TreeScapes (Volumes 1 and 2)

Flight1 Ultimate Traffic 2 @ 100% (this generally results in at least 100 airliners at Heathrow

 

It's worth noting that I only have the VC and user aircraft shadows active, and I have HDR lighting disabled.

Jim, it worked!

 

Kept all my settings like I posted, based on Robs, it's exactly the same but with 4096x4096.

 

Ran the Repair Tool, damn that found SO MANY errors!

 

Just did a flight, no problems at all

Yes, I stick to 1024x1024 textures in REX Essential Plus SP3 for the water, clouds etc.

I've not had OOM crashes in years ( 3 or 4 at least ) until last night and today.

 

Last night I was flying Edinburgh to Heathrow in the PMDG777. About 5 miles out on final  and P3D crashes. Was Also using Orbx England. 

 

Today I was flying the PMDG737 Whitehorse to Vancouver. About 5 miles out on final and P3D crashes. I have all the Orbx for North America installed.

 

I don't think it's Orbx. I upgraded P3D2.5 with the latest hotfix a few days back and I am starting to think it's the problem. like I said I've not had any crashes in years and then two in as many days? The only thing I have changed is the hotfix.

Orbx region + paywayre airport (I suppose you were also running a payware airport product) + PMDG most of the times is too much for VAS. Turn off the Orbx region if you want to fly into a payware airport with the PMDG planes. What do you need all the detail of an Orbx region at 30000 feet anyway?
