June 6, 200520 yr Last weekend I fooled around with the Active Camera 2.0 demo and I'm so BLOWN AWAY by it that I just have to spread the news to everyone who still doesn't have it! (And NO. I'm not affiliated in any way with the people who made it! I'm just VERY enthousiastic!) I like to fly with VC's (just bought the DF Beech A36 which also is AWESOME!). When you think VC's are nice and you haven't tried Active Camera yet, you don't know what youre saying and what you're missing... With Active Camera it all gets so real! Incredible! Up to now I always looked around with the hatswitch on my joystick which always went very slow. Zooming in on things was cumbersome. All in all I usually flew with the VC but used all pop-up screens I could and frequently went back to the 2D-cockpit to do what I had to do.But not anymore! The FREEDOM you get with AC 2.0 is awesome! You can really look around with the mouse as if you are there! It's so easy and normal! It's amazing this method isn't implemented in FS itself yet!And I absolutely LOVE the possibility to make your own view-presets! I mimiced (is that the right word?) all Beech A36 shift-# view with AC's Control-# views and MAN it's great! Specially because you get SMOOTH transitions! I expected some sort of snap-views, but these smooth transitions.... Its like you are really there, turning your head around and moving back and forth to see things better! And when you are in such a ctrl-view you can use the mouse again to look anywhere else! No need to snap back to the 'normal' vc view or anything like that! It really is so... REAL!As I said I just bought the excellent Dreamfleet Beech A36 and man, this really is is as real as it gets! I even use the VC's Reality Garmin 430! I never use the pop-up version! I have a zoomed in view under my ctrl-3 key (mimiced the shift-3 key) and do all my GPS work from that view! I also didn't not change the point of view: I only panned around and zoomed in from the original VC view, so I'm really seeing everything and doing everything from the pilot's point of view! Just as IRL! (Ever saw a real pilot use a pop-up view? Or do you think pilots get a straigh-on view of all their instruments?)It's so great that when you are working with for instance the Garmin GPS, with a zoomed in view, that you can quickly look around and outside to see if all is alright and then go back again (so SMOOTH) to the GPS...You really got to see it and try it ot believe it... I never had SO MUCH fun yet with FS!Pardon my over-enthousiasm here, but I'm so happy with AC (specially in combination with the DF Beech A36, which is the best GA I've ever flown) that I just had to tell it to someone... :) This isn't spam or a cheap trick to get everyone to order AC (although of course I think everyone should! ;): I'm just so excited with my new toy... ;)
June 6, 200520 yr ive got active camera 1 and i can do what you mentioned above!rgds! I7-10700F RTX 3070 32 Gig Ram
June 6, 200520 yr Upon the recommendations of many here at the forum, I downloaded and installed Active Camera in its limited edition (geographically speaking).I also run TrackIRPro w/vector kit. TrackIR was running very well, after much tweaking, and the first time I ran active camera, TrackIRPro was all out of wack. Turned off AC and TrackIR ran fine. I uninstalled AC and have given it no more thought.Perhaps I made mistakes in the install so I don't want to place blame on any program or publisher. Too many people are running AC with great results for it to be a problem application. So, it's me or my setup. But I'm putting together a new box and would be interested in enhancing MSFS with AC if I can still run TrackIR. I love it.Does anyone know if there is, or has been, a conflict between the two applications?I have visited the ac site and looked for similar questions but found none. Didn't feel I should register since I am not an owner of the product.donmac
June 6, 200520 yr Don, yes theres a bit of a conflict sometimes with these 2 programs as they are both trying to do similar things with the vc and sometimes end up fighting each other...i think you'll need to disable the head latency effect (and possibly ground turb effect) within the AC menus to use it when TIR is active. Also make sure Internal view is the only one you have checked AC menu...I use both at the same time and it works ok for certain thing, however i notice still that i need to pause TIR briefly before i change views with AC. I have one of my joystick button mapped to the pause key for my TIR so i can easily pause it and unpause it very quickly & easily.Dave Dave Kalin Excel Classes Computer Lessons
June 6, 200520 yr I just purchased it and it runs great! Does anybody know how to get my numlock views back? I liked being able to quickly look to the left right etc using the number keys... Active Camera has taken them over.
June 6, 200520 yr tmloser (what a name. ;)Can you direct me/us to the documentation page that would teach/instruct us to do what you have done with those keys?I'd like to try out what you have done with it.The only thing I have used AC for is the VC head latency mode and that alone has made my Fsim experience simply awesome.Infact.. Now I am working with WideView..but i don't like to have fixed external views ..even if they are 180 degree panaromic view if I don't have head latency. Head latency in VC mode gives me that slight vertigo effect.. which I love. Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
June 6, 200520 yr Not a huge fan of the mouse panning myself as I usually don't have any spare hands to operate the mouse with while flying, but the head latency effect is kind of cool...unless you're trying to operate a switch or knob in the VC in heavy turbulence :-lol but I have joystick commands for most things I need. -

I am relieved that it is not something in my setup that was causing that. Did figure out logically, though I really don't know what AC can do (it's possibilities), that somehow they were attempting to do some of the same things.Did not know that one could pause TIR without having an effect on other things. I have paused the sim and not had it come back. Will have to look more into the docs, for both these apps.Appreciate your thoughts on this!donmac
June 6, 200520 yr Well, I know from trying to fiddle with the knobs on my car CD player how much of a pain it can be when things get "turbulant" so that seems pretty believable to me... :)Mouse panning and head latency just bring the VCs to life for me.
June 6, 200520 yr my only problem with the head movements are that it brings out the waving textures in the VC. but it is awesome! Especially taking off! Sweet!! Does anybody know how to turn off the number key views so I can use the number keys to quickly view a different direction?
June 7, 200520 yr You should try Track-IR with vector expansion. No need for mouse to look around. If you want to look left, then turn your head left. Need to change a switch on the upper panel? Just look up. Want to look outside? Slide on over and look out the windows.Active Camera is so 1990s. TrackIR is 2005 immersion.
June 7, 200520 yr >tmloser (what a name. ;)>>Can you direct me/us to the documentation page that would>teach/instruct us to do what you have done with those keys? It's on page 22 of the manual. Set the view exactly as you want it and press Ctrl-Alt-#. After that you can use Ctrl-# (so the same keys but without the Alt) to go to that view!Only drawback...: you have to load the preset manually everytime you start up FS... Don't forget to save the preset first, of course... ;)
June 8, 200520 yr Author >You should try Track-IR with vector expansion. No need for>mouse to look around. If you want to look left, then turn>your head left. I imagine the head movements must be very small otherwise you could no longer look at the monitor.
