New Autogen Tech

i think it should really be possible to build a plausible "Japanases Autogen Library".

Yep, it's certainly possible. It only takes a small library of buildings to give an area a unique look. I've already done German and Spanish buildings as well. So will see how popular this scenery approach is.

Your enthusiasm, patience and devotion for creating such fantastic sceneries is amazing.

Thank You very much for it all Tony!

Really have to check it all out rather sooner than later again and i will definitely also take a closer look again at the "Donation-Part" of this fantastic "Donation-Ware" packages - well deserved and certainly worth every cent!

Thank You!

Enjoy flying and happy landings.

Wow, I can't even begin to say how impressive the new autogen-tech is. Just look at this ...

It's probably a mental asylum on the outskirts of the town! I really like how w2xp added a few rusty sheds for the ax wielding gardener to hangout in.

Looks like our ax wielding friend is up burning the midnight oil tonight ...

Other neat stuff ....

Cessna_172SP_55.png

City parks with swings, see-saws, slides and alcohol signs (hey gotta start build up the tolerance from when you're young) ... hmm it be neat to include the 3d people library in w2xp if you ever decide to re-cut this scenery

The Good

I really like the consistent quality of the building models and their textures you can tell a good deal of effort was put into them and it pays off. The framerates are also very good on my modest system.

The Bad

airports have what looks like shrubs outlining the runways & taxiways ... maybe this should be lights? Anyways this is probably a bug.

The Ugly

From time to time I would see large purple shaped textures with white dots on the ground ... I didn't know what they were, until I looked at the texture name and found out that they were solar panels. It would be cool to see these replaced with a 3d model of a solar panel ... or a different place holder object such as a windmill (so you could have either solar or wind farms)

Thanks for the review and the good laugh it gave me :-).

The shrubs along runways are a constant problem I have both in W2XP and this scenery. It's because the runway is lined with either farmland or areas tagged as grass or shrub land. In the majority of cases the effect of surround such areas with shrubs works well, but it has the nasty side effect of doing this on airport runways when the full area of the airport isn't tagged. If the airport is a downloadable version then normally they have exclusion zones to block them out.

The ugly, yep you're the second person to mention these. They are using a facade which looks ugly and is probably better being updated or removed completely. I couldn't find a way with facades to choose the angle of the texture, so it often looks wrong and ugly.

where can i find the models of the houses you posted?

Very nice work!

Well, this seriously complicates my approaching decision on whether to switch to XPlane or P3D. This, in a word, is incredible, Tony.

You are right, it's hard to beat the x-plane community and the openness of x-plane itself.

Holy thread resurrection Batman :-)

This project has come and gone. I released the Czech scenery with the autogen but it was never very popular and mostly redundant now since the XP11 default autogen works better. However, I have started the UK project again using much better autogen.
