Cant get ASN to work with P3Dv2.5 (Network Config)

Featured Replies

This is what I received from the hifi helpdesk some time ago. I would say check and give it a try....

[#AXA-944-38137]: "Cannot control ambient weather parameters" Error (P3D v2.5)

You may need to update the Windows Firewall rules.

Give this a try first.

If this does not help I will send this to the Dev Team.

With Windows Firewall under Advanced settings you need to make a new inbound rule and a new outbound rule.

You can add ASNext.exe and Allow Connection, and then under the "Protocols and Ports Tab" Allow Any.

Local and remote ports should now be set to "All Ports"

Under the Advanced Tab all 3 profile boxes should be checked. Domain, Private and Public.

Let me know if this helps.

I have been working with HiFi through a ticket right now, I will report back if that works too.

I tried installing ASN on both computers, still no work.

I watched Froogles video, that is how I got FSX to work and tried the same for P3D, that is where I got the 5000 port as well.

One thing I do know and cant seem to find where it is, is the ESP SimConnect on my client machine.  I installed all the simconnects in the P3D redist folder on the client computer and still nothing.

Can someone tell me where the ESP SimConnect comes from?

I think just about every possibility has been covered here. Just in case, here's a checklist to compare:

-file shares created: P3D main folder, appdata\roaming\lockheed martin, P3D v2 folder in your documents folder

-permissions in shared folders, for everyone to read and change in sharing tab

-permissions in shared folders, for everyone to read and change in security tab

-network is functional. Create text file on client machine. Copy to each of the shared folders. Change the files, then delete them. This will test the permissions and firewall access. If this fails, nothing else matters. You have to get netwoek set up properly. Try setting up a homegroup.

-simconnect.xml in appdata roaming lockheed martin. Here's a sample sort of. It seems the system strips out the tags:

SimConnect

SimConnect.xml

False

protocol IPv4

global

ip address your ip address

64

port 4506

4096

False

IP address is address of machine running P3D

-simconnect.cfg on client machine in documents folder. Sample:

[simConnect]

Protocol=IPv4

Address=your IP address

Port=4506

MaxReceiveSize=4096

DisableNagle=0

-all possible simconnect versions on both machines: P3D SDK (download, install on both machines, run simconnect.msi), P3D mainfolder\redist (run all 3 versions on both machines). This is probably overkill, but it won't hurt anything.

To test the simconnect setup, get a copy of AI Traffic.exe (I don't have a copy and I don't think it is in P3D) and copy it to the client machine. If you have FSX, it will be in the SDK. Start the simulator. Run the file. If simconnect is set up properly, a message will pop up that connection to sim is ok. If not, there will be no screen, no messsge.

-installed on network machine as administrator

-executable set to run as administrator in compatibility tab

-as connect installed on main machine as administrator

-correct entry in dll.xml for as_serv

This works for me. Therefore it should work on any machine. If you are still having difficulty, I'd open a trouble ticket at HiFi.

Good Luck

I eliminated that max receive size and max send size from my simconnect files.  can you post what your log files show inside the as_srv folder in Prepar3d and in your ASN folder on your client computer?  They should have some helpful information in them.

I finally got mine to work after some trial and error.  I also changed the default port that simconnect was utilizing as I was worried it as being kaboshed by another program trying to use the same port.

I appreciate everyone chiming in, I will try a few more of the options tonight when I get home.

They did ask me to give the log from ASN.  However when I load up ASN the top menu bar is greyed out, I cant select any of the options there to get the ASN logs.

P3d sdk won't let me install on my client computer. I assume that is normal?

I just figured it out.  My problem was how I was setting up permissions to share folders.  Making a test document and copying and pasting made me realize I didnt have it set up properly.

When I go to my computer, I right click my main drive, select share with, advance sharing, sharing tab, select advance sharing, select permissions and then make sure all the boxes are checked (full control, change and read).  I only had read.

Such a simple fix when I thought I had the network set up properly.  Thanks for the tip on making a test document and placing it in the server/client each way to make it work!

Glad you got up and running.
