March 25, 201511 yr Yes. The Desktop Window Manager (DWM) in Vista and later changed the way applications display pixels on the screen. Individual windows no longer draw directly to the screen or primary display device. Instead, their drawing is redirected to off-screen surfaces in video memory, which are then rendered into a desktop image and presented on the display. When in fullscreen mode DWM is disabled. March 25, 201511 yr I think people need to try setting their frame lock to something other than unlimited in sim and see how much better P3D handles locked frames than FSX does. I was a die-hard FSX Fullscreen, Unlimited Frames with 1/2 Vsync user up until switching to P3D, but I now use frames locked at 32, even in dense areas where I used to switch to unlimited in FSX to try and keep the FPS higher. Try loading up a dense scenery area, enable a framerate counter (either internal or external), then try changing the frame rate lock from 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, etc. until you find where it stops going higher. Once you've figured that magical number out, switch to unlimited and I bet you'll see the exact same value... March 26, 201511 yr Author I use TrackIr and there is a big difference between unlimited and locked. Without TrackIr locked looks pretty good but even with locked there are still microstutters that would be eliminated with 1/2 vsync. Tomaz Drnovsek My FSX Videos My AVSIM Gallery

Believe me I have tried everything to get a smooth result with frames locked, it just doesn't work on my system which is not exactly a slow PC ! FSX DX10 is black and white different. I have invested in P3D & the NGX but this will keep me away for a while. I have just brought X-Plane on Steam along with the FF 757. Yes X-Plane has some quirks, Yes I have downloaded alternative mesh but I have to say I am blown away by the scenery and the fluid flight. Tons of free stuff including an awesome plugin that allows me to have all the flight displays running on a networked PC. The quality of addon aircraft is also getting much better. Hopefully PMDG will port their existing aircraft and I am keeping my fingers crossed that the 747 V2 will also be available. I will still visit P3D from time to time but right now I am spending more time in 'The Other One" !! I'll just give a simple reason why I'm not switching. Addons. I spent A LOT of money on FSX addons (a lot of them I'm now using in P3D) so it will have to be something much much better than XP10 that will make me switch.
