March 26, 201511 yr Not sure really where to put this, here or on the painters forum. This seems to happen more on P3d than fsx so guess it might be more p3d related. I have been making plans using AIFP and the many hundreds of Ai textures for quite a while and incorporate them into fsx and p3d using the add scenery option,(one folder for both sims)however I've noticed that in P3d the ai aircraft initial all start completley black before going to the asigned textures some change very quickly others it takes a few seconds. If I turn away and then back again sometimes they are still fully textured and other times they are black again any ideas what the cause of this is Cheers Pete Little
March 26, 201511 yr Commercial Member Texture Loading is too slow, probably a HDD issue. Where are you keeping the repaints, and how is this drive's health doing (speed, capacity, fragmentation)? I keep all the AI repaints (UT2) on a RamDrive for this reason. LORBY-SI
March 26, 201511 yr Yes your texture loading is slow. Probably your plane is the last to load and is it an original FSX a/c? Happens to me once in a while with FSX planes and I have a GTX770 Graphics card. Mine last maybe 3 seconds. Don't want to putter around dropping different sliders; I just get on with it. Jim
March 26, 201511 yr I don't think its that... I have this sometimes and P3D is installed on a 840 Evo ssd, gtx 970 and 2500K@4 GHz This only started happening in 2.5 Maybe has something to do with the fact that I turned off HDR | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
March 26, 201511 yr It may not be the time that the hard drive takes to read the texture, but it is probably a combination of the HDD and the rest of the hardware catching up. It's the same issue that causes the "blurries" with scenery loading. The difference is that when you start at a short distance from an AI aircraft, the LOD (and hence the resolution of the texture) is at the maximum already, so it goes from nothing (black) to full resolution which takes some time. If you start a flight and AI aircraft is much further away, a lower resolution texture from the mipmap is loaded and the result seems instantaneous.
March 26, 201511 yr Author will have to look but the textures and plans are on an ssd drive, this has only happened since i switched to 2.5 so it may be related?? Pete Little
March 26, 201511 yr It's possible, but as I stated before, the HDD/SSD is probably not where the lag is originating. You could try experimenting with reducing image quality and see if the problem disappears.
