Milton's Beech 18 is out!

Featured Replies

I tried to adjust the sound.cfg file as per your post to test it out, but upon trying to save the file, I keep getting this message: "Cannot create the D:/***/***/***/aircraft/D18SVC/sound/sound.cfg file. Make sure that the path and filename are correct". Any ideas why since I navigated to the file through MY Computer?

You need to UN-check the "read only" box in properties. I ran into the same thing.

Thanks so much for this tip, simple but I would not have figured it out, and it did bother me to only hear one engine. Thanks again,ThomasN15802

Thanks Daryll, I figured that this was the problem after I left my home on the way to work this a.m. but haven't had the change to look at it again until tonight.

Followup:I have removed the inner deicer boots from the cargo version and attaching a picture of the local CAF D18S showing the inner boots. This is why they were put on the passenger version. :-) They seem quite rare in pictures and are also unique to this FS model I guess. :-)Cargo version still in beta.

Hi,I believe that picture #1 is paint, and not a Goodyear deicer boot. I did a Google yesterday, and could not find one picture of a boot on the inner wing. It is nearly impossible to get a boot to work, let alone install one around a hole in the leading edge of the wing. I may be wrong, but I can't see any reason to spend the time and engineering on an old aircraft to gain such a small performance increase. Why is there a big fairing over the lower spar cap? Is that a repair doubler of some discription? You can see the jack pad protruding from it. Sure am looking forward to your sound package.Regards,Bob

Bob,It may be paint. Looking at all the other pictures I have of her, I can not say for sure. When I go back out to the CAF museum for the first test flight since refurbishing, I'll check that out. I'll also ask about that odd fairing beneath the spar. I know this aircraft was in a ground accident, falling into a large drainage construction ditch at night.Attaching another picture FYI.Progress is being made on the sounds by musXman.

I agree with Bob about it being paint, but there does seem to be a remnant of a small hole 6 to 12 inches from the fuse that could have been an inflation port for the boot that the plumbing ran to.Re the spar cap, I think there might have been an AD note to beef up the spar between the engines.

Milton,I hope you're still following this thread since I have a question . Every time I open or close the cowl flaps, the percentage numbers come up different. For instance, one time the numbers will jump in large increments (0%, 38%, 68% & 100%), and other times in smaller increments (0%, 23% 43%, etc). One time I couldn't achieve the same percentage for both cowl flaps at the same time.Has anyone else seen this anomoly?By the way, it would be nice, if possible, to have a way to ask questions on your web site for the Beech. And thanks for the transponder panel. Great and useful addition in keeping with the theme and times.ilovetofly

Hi,Where would I find the transponder panel for Milton's Beech 18? I've scoured the file library, but no luck. Thanks for any help.Joe>Milton,>I hope you're still following this thread since I have a>question . AFAIK, the increments are a time function and may vary with system load.Sorry, I cannot maintain a website for support beyond what I have. I always respond to email and I usually catch up to main forums in short order.Joe, the Transponder and other things are available on the FAQ's and Known Problems page of the website.http://www.flightsimonline.com/d18s/

I absolutely concur! Thank you, Milton!Appreciatively yours,RobertPIV 3.2 ghz, 1024 DDR ram, 128 mg Radeon 9800 Pro graphic card, Intel D865GBF 800 FSB mobo, two 160 gig Seagate 7200 Ultra ATA 100 hard drives,Win XP Home Edition, 19" ViewSonic E 90f + SB monitor

Thanks, Milton. Got it, and will install now.May I say, your Beech 18 is outstanding, and a joy to fly.
