FSX and FSX:SE Side by side

Featured Replies

Hi

Can I run the PMDG 777 in both FSX and FSX:SE side by side on the same computer? Do they have to be the same version?

Thanks.

John.

Yes. Yes you can.

But can you run PMDG in both version without installing in FSX-SE ?  I have referenced PMDG to my boxed FSX install in my dll and exe file as well as in the fsx.cfg but the aircraft will not load with a functional VC.  I get an error and then no panels no gear.

I am sorry, this is hard to understand.  You can run PMDG in both FSX and FSXSE.  To run PMDG in FSXSE you must install in FSXSE.  The current installer recognizes both platforms and gives you a choice to install in either platform or both.

The missing gear and gauges problem is addressed in the readme that comes with the installer titled something like FSXSE USERS READ ME.

I guess I will have to do it this way.  I was trying to use the current install in FSX Boxed just by referencing the pmdg folders as was suggested by another user.

LOL, how did that work out?

There are so many reasons why that may not work well.  I recommend you get the free update to PMDG B77X that has an installer for both platforms.

shurely there a many reasons why this will not work - but there is no update for the boxed version out right now as far as I know - so the "box-people" are desperatly looking for workarounds :-)

Yeah, my bad.. I keep forgetting that the version we have been testing for VAS memory leaks is still pending release, I expect the distribution to Aerosoft will happen pretty quickly after that.  My apologies.

OK I have downloaded the latest full installers and have tried to run them to install into FSX-SE.  I get an option of repair or uninstall but nothing allowing me to point the installer to FSX-SE.  So how do you install into both platforms ?

Hi, Mark,

Take a look at the following thread:

To install both platforms you have to first uninstall the FSX version. Then the installer will give you the option to install both. I have now done that and it seems to be working (for the most part)...
