July 11, 201510 yr I’ve recently came back to flight simulation.Setting up all my stuff, I’ve noticed that I get terrain blurries.I’ve tried the old tweaks I used back in 2.4 for blurries, which worked. However, with 2.5, they don’t seem to do anything.I’ve also tried a clean prepar3d.cfg, but to no avail.Scenery and trees load in properly, but it’s just the terrain that stays blurry until you fly right over it.I have the NVIDIA GTX 760.What do?

The only tweaks are in graphics settings, I haven't touched the config file.
July 12, 201510 yr You didn't mention what addon's you have, however I would suggest you set NI to default along with NVidia control panel, rename your shaders folder,( not ShadersHLSL) and try lowering your sliders and texture settings. I wouldn't use 4xSGSSAA as it can affect mid to high range set-ups, you canalways try aging after sorting your blurries problem. bob

Resetting NI doesn't work, neither does lowering my settings. I'll try the ShadersHLSL method.
July 13, 201510 yr According to my experience, modifying graphics settings (SGSS, or other NVI settings) helps little in fighting blurries. As far as I read in several places (and can confirm) it's the CPU which doesn't cope with the burden of texture loading. Thus I would recommed starting to experiment in this department: Hyperthreading on/off, Affinity Mask (only if HT on), process priority. overclocking (if there is still some headroom), or alternatively switching overclocking off, as the processor might overheat. No guarantee this does help, but these are the screws which I would start to turn first. I rarely experience blurries (just in some localized places), but I can quite easily provoke them throughout by playing with the named settings. My usual settings (which might not be the best for you, though): HT off, no AM, P3D pirority high, no overclocking. Kind regards, Michael Intel i7-13700K / AsRock Z790 / Crucial 32 GB DDR 5 / ASUS RTX 4080OC 16GB / BeQuiet ATX 1000W / WD m.2 NVMe 2TB (System) / WD m.2 NVMe 4 TB (MSFS) / WD HDD 10 TB / XTOP+Saitek hardware panel / LG 34UM95 3440 x 1440 / HP Reverb 1 (2160x2160 per eye) / Win 11
July 13, 201510 yr Moderator DO NOT MESS WITH THE SHADERS_HLSL folder!! You should DELETE the shaders folder in your c:\users\<you>\Appdata\Local\LockheedMartin\shaders - let it rebuild. Vic RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160

July 14, 201510 yr Hi, one more tip: Make sure there are no other programs eating your CPU cycles away. Most of the kind helpers in your tray are usually harmless, but sometimes they might include 1 or 2 heavily occupying your processor. You can see this by having a look into the Task Manager while running the simulator. There are several programs for closing programs and processes while running the simulator. Just google or search AVSIM. Personally, I use Bill's Process Manager which allows Affinity Mask plus Priority settings, too. It's free. July 14, 201510 yr Moderator Are you using affinity mask? if so - delete it and see if that helps. If not, add it with the setting that uses ALL cores - am=15 - also try 14. See if that helps. Vic RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160

Kind regards, Michael I've set the priority to high/real time, but it made very little difference. Are you using affinity mask? if so - delete it and see if that helps. If not, add it with the setting that uses ALL cores - am=15 - also try 14. See if that helps. Vic With/without AM, nothing changes. Would a clean reinstall of P3D help with the blurries? I would check if the problem occurs in stock P3D.

July 14, 201510 yr Looks good. As always, you've to closely watch what you're doing, notably concerning processes. There may be processes which don't restart at bootup after having been closed by one of these tools. Usually they can be reactivated, but you first have to isolate the missing process if one of your programs doesn't react as expected. Happens rarely, but can't be excluded.
