Tropical island hopping

Featured Replies

I've been flying the daylights out of Orbx PNW and SE Alaska scenery after switching to P3D a few months ago.  Interested in some flying around the tropics as a change of pace, and wondering if there is any scenery that you would recommend that would be compatible with P3D?

I think their freeware HQM is native now - there's a few other payware airports I can't recall in PNW area.

You can try FlyTampa St. Maarten and Grenadines.  They are compatible with P3D, just check the support forum for fixes and/or updates. Take a look here:

Coupled with FTX Global, you should be able to enjoy some great island hoping in the Caribbean.

Keeping with Orbx , the Samoas and the PNG packages are extremely nice.

Wow. The Pago Pago Orbx scenery is exactly what the doctor ordered! Thanks. What is the PNG package?

I love the Pago Pago scenery and have many videos using it.

Papua New Guinea. It includes Port Moresby AYPY and several very challenging dirt strips in the highlands, short and sloped, with their villages (including a separate freebie, the Emo mission) and upgraded default airports all over PNG.

You gain having underlaid the OrbX Global set of textures (palettes are harmonized) but, like the Samoas, it works without it too.

Same authors for the Samoas and PNG,  Tim Harris and Ken Hall, very talented folks.
