LDS767 or PMDG747?

Featured Replies

Now this is a good point, I can't spend hours and hours doing a long-haul in one sitting.I'm a recent purchaser of the Level-D 767 - absolutely delighted with it.Also have the PMDG 737 - excellent too and is perfect for all-in-one-go short-hauls.Don't have the PMDG 747 and don't intend to until a boxed version comes out, which will surely be discounted eventually. However - point of this post - Level-D 767 allows flights to be saved mid-course and resumed later - only thing I've spotted that doesn't work is elapsed time on the clock, otherwise works 9 times out of 10, and a second attempt to restart always makes it 10 out of 10.As the PMDG 747 would I presume typically be used for even longer flights than the 767-300 ER, can it also be saved in mid-flight and restarted successfully?

At present you cannot beat the LDS767 and with SP2 round the corner need I say more! The PMDG 744 might be a more realistic simulation, in the far future, but only after a quite a few patches (3+). At presemt there are too many bugs to list, but I'm sure we will see a few patches.Rember (imo) at present the LDS767 is God !!!

Ill throw in my two cents here...I own both planes, and both are absolutely amazing. Some people are experiencing bugs with the 747, but I havent experienced any yet....---747 Pro's-----Amazing external model, over 1200 animated parts!-Excellent FMC; it also includes SID and STARS which the 767 does not-Virtual Cabin-Stunning Virtual Cockpit-Excellent Manual-Excellent Flight Model---747 Con's----Sound is not that great to me; PMDG says its what the real thing sounds like-Still a few bugs to work out-No announced Fs2Crew :(---767 Pro's----Great external model-Great Virtual Cockpit-Excellent Flight Model-Announced Fs2Crew---767 Con's----FMC is somewhat limited due to lack of SID's and STAR's-VNAV doesnt always work properly-Is optomized for 1280x768 (Depends on your monitor, this is a con for me)Overall they are both great aircraft. I personally think FS2Crew is the best addon for FS, and for that reason I will reccomend the 767 over the 747. If Fs2crew ever comes out for the 747 though, I would reccomend the 747.

I would go with LDS, if anyone is still pondering. Why?Its Cheaper than the PMDG 744Its my favourite aircraftIt is better on FPS than the PMDG 744 (personal experience)It is just as good, as the PMDG 744, system-wise, Some say its better, Some say its worse. It is backed by Service Pack 1 and upcoming 2, which will provide you with even more features. You really feel like you are flying the 767.You have a whole support forum full of answers already, Thats if you come accross any problems, :(You are backed by a 30 day money back garentuee. If you did require support, It would be there, On an easy-to-use forum software. Many repaitns or 3rd party add-ons for it already. Many tutorials.----PMDG's 744, while excellent is still 'early', the LDS 767 has had many months to mature, Buy the LDS 767, and then save up for the 747, If you ever do want to, or if you get bored of the 767 you will finnaly have a Bug-Free, Excellent 747, PMDG's Support forum should also have set in properly and there should be no complications. If you have an awesome system, and, don't mind a few bugs, and LOVE eye-candy I'd get the 747-400.

"Please act your age, and GROW UP."Bob,Unfortunately, your response (above,) exemplifies my point. The opinion still stands. . .hands down. . .PMDG is the WINNER.Gary Hawk

All the best with your choice. Remember the heat LDS took when it was first released. Given PMDG time to work out the bugs and this 747 will be a nice addon in the long run. All the best.

All the best!
