September 18, 201510 yr I am experiencing OOM errors with the FSUIPC logger indicating more than 340 MB of memory remaining. The warning gongs don't even occur until you get down to 250 MB so this is a new one for me. I suspect Orbx scenery. I recently added FTX Ireland and England and starting running Orbx in the hybrid mode. The error has occured twice leaving the NAT approaching Ireland. I am going to turn hybrid off and go back to using Scenery Editor before each flight to customize the scenery list. Has anyone else experienced OOM errors with this much VAS remaining? Seems odd and I'm not sure what is happening. Windows provides the message box reporting the out of memory condition and it will close the application and the OK button. There is no logging in the event viewer that I can find. Dan Downs KCRP
September 18, 201510 yr Moderator there are several threads on this subject - for detailed info just search this forum. Basically though, it's not how much VAS you have remaining but how much CONTIGUOUS VAS you have. If a process requests more CONTIGUOUS space than you have available - OOM. September 18, 201510 yr The amount of VAS remaining is I think only one part of the equation. I understand that there not only has to be sufficient, but that it has to be contiguous. You may therefore experience a situation where you have sufficient total VAS remaining, but in insufficiently large available chunks to accommodate your VAS needs for your combo of addons etc at that monent in time, hence your OOM. Edit: Vic beat me to it as I replied Look forward to v3, because by all accounts LM are working to improve the release of, and slicing and dicing of VAS, to much reduce the problem.. September 18, 201510 yr Author Thanks guys, that makes perfect sense. I'll read up on contiguous VAS memory. I was looking for a clue in Process Explorer but I'll need to learn more to make sense of "page faults." Edit: Okay better versed on page faults (not part of this problem) and contiguous vas, thanks to a clearly understandable half-page wikipedia article. Got it. Thanks again. Dan Downs KCRP
September 19, 201510 yr Orbx FTX Ireland stayed on my PC for around 2 days. Flying to The addon airport Dublin from The UK was an OMM every time and not even close to airport, Global and Vector is OOM free. Orbx regions are a huge hit. So is Vector with everything turned on. But You can turn Vector right down. David Murden. September 19, 201510 yr Author Thanks David. I've not had unmanageable problems with their other areas/regions but I suspect the same thing. Since I was overflying the IR and EN areas I turned them off, turned off hybrid and completed the KIAH-EHAM flight all nominal. I now have an issue with the Aerosoft EHAM I just added (seems to be a common theme with Aerosoft products, I know they are just the marketing channel but... ). The developer's exclude polygons are missing or misplaced and there's autogen objects (trees and generic bldgs) on the taxiway coming in from 18R to the ramp, and many misplaced taxi light objects. Also, the bridged-jetways at the gate cut right into the wing of the 777. I might remove this product. If it were just an exclusion poly problem, I'd fix it but the rest is beyond my skill level... sorry. Off topic. Dan Downs KCRP
