Today I took a decision...

 

I really had to try HD Mesh v3, but I couldn't find the space to get it for the full scenery install of XP10.

 

I also have Il2 BoS and look fwd to get DCS v1.5 when available until the end of the month, so.... I decided to restrict my scenery area to that which corresponds to 99% of my flights - The Iberia Peninsula, plus the Azores and Madeira islands, and for those areas I got:

 

- HD Mesh v3

- World2XP Europe West ( 1 )

 

Wow!!!!  What can I say ?  For me it looks even better than with the ZL16 photoscenery I was using before, and raised my admiration for XP10 another 100% :-)

How are you finding the coverage in terms of buildings/autogen in this region? I started work some time ago on proper autogen and vegetation for Spain/Portugal but stopped because of other commitments.

Yesterday I took some time to fly between a couple of aerodromes near Lisbon airport, and fly from there to LPPT.

 

I found the coverage so good, and the landclass also so goo ( for sure better than the default mesh because I am now using Andras HD mesh v3 ), that I decided not to get any photo sceneries.

 

The performance was also very acceptable. I get beteween 20-22 and 60+ fps with HDR, uncompressed textures, default clouds with textures reduced to 512 mb.

 

I feared getting low fps with the HD mesh, but the performance is great, and for instance at LPPT the slope in rw 03/21 is now very realistic and smooth, causing no weird and unwanted jumps when I takeoff on my PSX.

 

It's strange, because the last time I installed the full Europe World2XP "scenery pack" also from SimHeaven, I had noticed a slight decay in FPS, but now it's smooth.

The best areas with W2xp I have flown around is Netherlands and Berlin. Netherlands was next to perfect.

Yes Andras, I'm just about to try my glider in the UHD Pyrenees, and my office colleague, who loves walking and climbing around there, already offered to evaluate the quality :-)

Well there are some w2xplane packs with autogen and some without (osm-only) . Otherwise there might be something wrong in your scenery_packs.ini.

ok thanks Karsten, I downloaded all the Europe packs from Simhaven...are they the correct ones?  As it is, all major cities have no autogen at all.

Depends. There are different ones and all of them won't work together since they have different objectives and approaches! What does your scenery_packs.ini file state?

Hmm, with the exception of the Europe Library I don't see any modifications for Europe.

Ok, can you explain to me what these London Buildings at the Top of the List do?

As well as the _DefaultStreets London-Heathrow/ ?Try

to set them to SCENERY_PACK_DISABLED

Istanbul1, Istanbul2 and Dubai, as well as Gibraltar could be more than an airports too.
